My Jeep is killing me in gas, so I'm looking to trade it for a sporty all wheel drive coup/sedan.

Price isn't really an issue at this point... I just need suggestions. Here are the criteria:

1. At least 22 MPG highway
2. Over 200 Horse power
3. All Wheel Drive

GO!

100% audi (S4 or A3 are both extra sporty and both have quattro...A4 is still fun to drive)
I'm a repeat owner so I'm biased though.
Do what I do and get one that's a couple years old. Let someone else take the depreciation, well engineered cars last for a very long time.

/I own a jeep too ;)

So far, #1 on my list is the Volvo S40 T5 AWD.

I would recommend an Audi Quattro A4/A6 and such.

Other AWD vehicles you might want to consider are Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions.

I'm more biased towards Japanese sports cars of the likes.

If price wasn't an issue, I'd be leaning S4 or maybe a BMW 325xi...

I dunno, maybe I'm old...Volvo's just scream "baby on board" and "safe and sensible" to me ;)

also I'll add if the AWD is important to you, Quattro is head and shoulders above the rest ;)

Or if you do not want it to be AWD, some FWD cars and RWD cars are blasts too drive also.

I'd seriously suggest at least driving a new Impreza, or older one just for the fun factor.

I have a friend with an '07 WRX STi which is so bloody fun to drive it's ridiculous.

I've also driven a '04 VW R32 with a stage II setup including supercharger and intercooler...total blast for not too much money.

Of course, I don't think either of those are much good on gas ;)

My biggest reason for AWD is the snow. I've always driven an SUV, and I really don't like cars that much because of their winter handling.

The Audis do look very nice. Might have to trade up for a used one as cross is saying.

The new sign and drive leases for VW are pretty appealing.

Is the CC a good car?

I would also suggest a 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 for AWD. :D

Oh and if you think you're gonna get stuck with a Subaru, there are reasons why they dominated the Rally scene.

Get one from California with no rust.

Seriously, I got my first A4...a 1996 2.8 quattro for $9,000 in 2002.
Dollar for dollar probably the best money I ever spent on a vehicle.

I'd say they're too new to know, but VW makes decent cars in general.

They were actually banned from WRC after initially crushing all the 2wd cars with quattro in the '70's

What's wrong with a lease? I leased a Jeep Patriot a few years ago and I really liked how it turned out. My cost of ownership was so low it was stupid!

I'd prefer to just buy a car instead of leasing it, because if I were to lease a car, it would not be in the same shape or condition, maybe not even the same motor when I got the thing.

You can find an Audi Quattro A4 or whatever model for under 10 grand, 2000 and up.

In all my years I've never heard of someone liking a lease or not getting screwed by it.

Well, I modify everything I can get my hands on too...a lease agreement would probably frown upon bolting on an extra turbo ;)

Ain't that right XC.

Wasn't thinking of modifications down the road.

Hmmm...

I found a certified BMW 328xi AWD with 27K on it listed at 25, which I can work him down on. Nice car.

Beemers are nice...the only complaint I've heard is their iDrive system that controls everything.
It can be cumbersome.

I'm the type of person who wants a car that is about as old as me, and to drop in a newer engine and such.

That is why I want a 240sx, swap the KA24 for either an SR20 or RB25, depends on the money situation at the time.
