I would just like to say that I _should_ be in bed right now, but for some reason it's not letting me. This doesn't happen very often and it's annoying as all hell. This thread should be made for those who _should_ be in bed, but aren't due to some reason of insomnia. The reasoning behind this is that I know I can be quite an interesting person during these times, and I'm wondering what others are like when this happens to them. Methods to get you to sleep that I use: -fan on low to create a "white noise" effect -ADD MORE OF YOUR OWN |

I'm a nighthawk but when I do end up falling asleep I just lay in bed basically, and eventually will fall asleep. |

Well, there's the normal occasional not being able to fall asleep, and then there is actual insomnia, where you'll stay up for days if you don't take something, or if you don't do that you just sleep in these little 30-120 minute shifts. I'm friends with both hahaha, actual insomnia on and off. Generally, when I can't fall asleep, I just pull all-nighters lol. Buuuut if I've already been getting like four or less hours a night on average for more than a week, I'll succumb and take a bunch of diphenhydramine because if I don't the next day will be terrible. That works pretty well. It makes you drowsy, at least. Lately I haven't been able to sleep not because of actual insomnia or anything but because I can't turn my mind off. It's obnoxious, and there's not really anything that can be done about it. |

I'm going to be in this thread every night. I'm one of those people who hates going to bed at night, but still loathes getting up in the morning. I've always kind of been like this and its not really good for college, but I work overnight shifts on weekends to pay for my apartment and tuition so my whole sleep schedule is pretty screwed up. |

Yea I'm the same way. I like to stay up late and just sleep in late, I know I can't but I function fine on 4 hours of sleep a night. In High School I got <6 a night by senior year but just took naps in most of my classes anyways. I normally take a nap a day and screw myself up unless I have to work, or I'll just stay up and fall asleep early and get back on track with sleep. |

Yeah, power naps are nice, but I normally end up feeling groggy and out of it for the rest of the day. I think half my problem is that I get too bored laying in bed. I just went to attempt to sleep, but ended up just getting bored and went straight back to the computer for entertainment. My girlfriend hates this because she keeps waking up and I'm never there, though I do tuck her in every night and make sure she's asleep before I leave the room, just so she doesn't have to fall asleep alone every night. Usually end up falling asleep to The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson reruns on CBS.com and around 5am-6am I get the "Jim! Jim!?" calls from the bedroom and I groggily tumble into bed and sleep for an hour before my day starts. |

I'll be going to bed shortly, even though I'm really not tired, but I need to get up by 10. |

"Happy Hour" for me starts at 1 am, and I sometimes tend to be most productive during this time. By five a.m. (which would be about 10-11 p.m. for most), I finally fall asleep from sheer exhaustion. I can't pull all-nighters anymore. It takes too long to recover. |

I'm pulling an all-nighter to get my sleeping back to what it should be, I could go to bed now and get up in 4.5 hours, but I want to play MW2 some more. I'm not sure really, might just go to bed and play MW2 after I get home. Alright, sleep it is then. |

I was very pleased, though, because today was the first day that I was fully awake for my 8:30 class and remained alert throughout the entire thing. It makes no sense at all, but I'll take it. |

It's after 3:30 and I want some orange juice. I always want orange juice because it's always been my favorite thing to drink for as long as I can remember (and I have scattered memories of when I was one lol that's supposed to be impossible), but now I have a legitimate craving. |
