Discuss!

(And yes, all you smarmy bastards with your jokes about heavy metals are welcome, too )

Turns out, Missy has been secretly getting into metal - she's into Mastodon, and just recently got into Baroness while listening to their records with me. Now we're going to the Mastodon/Baroness/BTB&M/Valient Thorr show in Rochester in April!

I was too busy getting lost in Emmi Silvennoinen's eyes to pay attention to anyone else in that thread.

I hear Priestess' new album is really good, but I haven't heard anything on it yet (I'm listening to Hello, Master right now...such a good record).

I've been enjoying Sybreed lately. Some good industrial metal.

I'll listen to it, but I'm not a huge current metal type of guy, but I like some of it.

BTB&M has a great guitarist.

I'm more of a metal of the 70's type if stuff, heck without Black Sabbath metal wouldn't be much right now, they basically invented that heavy guitar riffs and such.

I was at the record store today and saw a copy of Mr. Bungle's "Disco Volante"...there's an urban legend that goes if you drop the needle of a record player in just the right spot, you discover a second groove in the vinyl and can hear secret songs.

BOARD UP THE HOUSSSSSEEEE

does this record store only sell metal, phil? have a look for a bear vs shark vinyl, if you could. the "right now, your in the best of hands... and if something isnt quite right, your doctor will know in a hurry" vinyl has been eluding me for a few years.

It sells all sorts of crap...there's a SERIOUSLY eclectic offering.

I'll have to keep an eye out for Bear vs Shark.

My red vinyl 7" double LP of Lifesblood got here today, and I'm listening to it. It's changing my life as the needle crawls across the wax.

I would have a lot more to contribute this thread if I wasn't on a big punk kick.

I've been enjoying Evergreen Terrace a lot more than I should, in particular their album Wolfbiker.

Sky, if you ever come back in this thread, I hope you're reading this post:

Being that you like Black Sabbath-era metal, the stoner metal and doom metal scene is something you'd dig. Ridiculously heavy riffs that could pound concrete to dust is the name of the game. For starters, check out High on Fire, particularly their record Death Is This Communion.
