I've been to 20 Sabres games now, and I have my traditions and routines that I go through. Always Park in the lot on the corner of Michigan and Scott st. Thank the crossing guards on the way into the arena. If I'm sitting in the 300s, I always go up on the side that has the creepy b/w pic of Mair. Face each flag during its anthem. This was kind of awkward last game because I had to turn almost completely backwards and look straight up. Join in any and all chants, cheers, etc. Belting out Sweet Caroline as loud as I can should the circumstances warrant. Always stay for the three stars. |

I don't have any specific ones when I go to Buffalo. But I do have some superstitious tendencies when I watch games at home. 1. Always wear my jersey during game times, and make sure all of the other Sabres jerseys I own are hung up on hangers. They cannot be in my dirty laundry or laying on the floor. 2. My Sabres flag needs to be hung on the wall at all times. I take it down, only when I go to visit games. (forgot that I did have 1 game tradition... when I bring it, they win. When I forget it, they lose.) 3. I cannot be on my computer when I watch the games. Something bad happens, so I close it and put it under my coffee table (which is why I don't participate in GDT 4. I own an inflatable Stanley Cup. All season long, it stays deflated in my closet. Once we reach the last 20 games of the season, if I feel the Sabres have a chance to do some damange in the playoffs, I pull it out and inflate it, and it sits in my living room. Just so you all know, I inflated it this year just before the San Jose game. I think it brought us some good luck. 5. If I'm going to miss a game for some reason, I set my DVR, and I don't go online or check the score or watch ESPN until I have a chance to go home and watch it over again. It's like watching it live, because I don't know the results. |

Since I've never been to a Sabres game (until March 26th against Ottawa) at home I make sure that my Sabres flag is always flying outside and that I have some kind of Sabres apparel on. |

I just get there super early and I always stay for the 3 stars... I don't really have any traditions. I always take pictures of Miller doing his meditation thing and the players warming up...that's really the only reason why I get there early. The one and only time I was late for a hockey game was when the Sabres scored 3 goals in the first few minutes against Tampa, go figure. |

Phil's Unbreakable Rules: 1. Must eat at least one order of HSBC Arena nachos, double cheese and double jalapenos. 2. Must only drink tall drafts of Molson Canadian. 3. Must wear a jersey to every game. 4. Must cheer on Doug Allen when his name is announced and after he finishes each anthem. After that it's fair game what I do. |

Considering I've been to only two games (once on the road and once at home) most of my traditions/superstitions have to do with watching the game on TV. I kind of approach the games the same as when I'm getting ready to play a game of hockey myself. Usually do what needs to be done around the house first when I get home. Then, no food, no beer etc until I've hit the treadmill which is usually about an hour before the game. After that, cold shower, jersey goes on, I crack a beer and then it's on! The last while, the blind in my Sabres room will remain down on game nights as my flag is in the window. When it's up, we lose. Down; we win. If a loss happens, I go into the Sabres room and adjust the position of all my jerseys. MM must think of it as my way of juggling the lines. I have enough jerseys in there that I can switch where they hang. If/when we win, every jersey hangs in the same spot. What can I say? I'm a hockey player. Superstitions and traditions come with the territory and are a way of life. |

Except once last year, I had to leave early because I was sick and I didn't want to stay anymore. We lost in OT to the Pens that game We do like all the same things!!!! Also I always get the game notes that they give out at Guest Services. I have a collection from a majority of the games I've been to (when I started to care about hockey, anyway). |

This isnt so much a superstition...but since i've been down here in raleigh, i've been to five sabres games at RBC center. The sabres have lost all five of those games. I really, honestly do not believe in jinxes or superstition, but i'm seriously wondering if I should stop going. Plus, it just sucks SO FUCKING BAD leaving that place after a loss, with those "caniacs" talkin all their retarded smack talk. "Get outta here sabres, Just get out now ya hear!?" (exact quote from some drunk staggering semi-toothless lady in a ratty canes sweater outside after the game) I think i'll skip the next game down here. |

I mentioned at least we're still in the playoffs and it would take a miracle for you guys to make them. They didn't care for it too much, and mentioned we just beat you and you're trash talking. I just kept thinking, Standings is what matters right now, and we have a shot unlike your team. |

Don't really have any rituals/traditions, just habits I guess. Always wear a jersey to the game. Always park on Lower Terrace where it curves - easiest to get out of. Usually get to the game 10 minutes before faceoff. Always stay for the three stars. Always go up the escalator on the right side even when the seats are on the opposite side. Always take the stairway between the escalators down as it's the easiest way to get to the lobby. Usually bring water/pop (they let you bring food/drinks in so long as it's not alcohol) and don't usually eat anything. I've never liked paying $5 for some crappy snack. Although they do have some places in the arena with good food - if I'm on the 200 level (rarely) the Harbour Club is good. |

Most of my rituals took place at The Aud. I had to pass the lower concourse souvineer stand, go up certain stairs - ramps, etc. For a while it was chatting with Art Wander at the top of a ramp which ended between the reds and blues. Once in my seat, I had to stair at the sound dampeners that hung from the ceiling, until I got a chill from the height. So far at HSBC, my tradition has been to pee before the game starts. This has become an easier chore since I started using the bathrooms there.... |
