Hello ya'll,

Is there a safe place to go online to view a movie or download it?

My wife and her son just came back from seeing Avatar and they thought is was a great flick, since I am stuck behind this desk and on the phone most days until 9-10pm at night, I thought I could watch late at night.

Anyone with a recommendation let me know, thanks.

Well, if you're talking about a film that hasn't yet been released on DVD you pretty much only have one option.
Downloading a bootleg (of highly varying quality) over bittorrent.

You'll need a bittorrent client like uTorrent or Azureus then head do a google search for "name of movie torrent"...or head over to thepiratebay.com or similar torrent tracking sites and search for it.

It may take a long time to download
It may suck
It may be unwatchable

YMMV

It's thepiratebay.ORG. I don't know if I have any demonoid links left, but I can send you one if I do.

You can also use hulu.com and ovguide.com for streaming online. As always, you may be able to find streams on atdhe.net and justin.tv as well.

There are a couple places like hulu that let you watch full TV shows, but you're asking about a movie that's still in theaters.

There's no easy way to do that because...well...it's illegal ;)

Think of a torrent as a zip file, but it points to a bunch of servers. That bunch of servers know single, tens, or hundreds of people that all have the file that you want. It then asks each of those people to upload parts of the file, which are put together on your computer. Most internet providers have good download speeds, but shit upload speeds, comparatively. This teaming allows you to receive files faster.

I hope I didn't fuck that up too bad, but that's my understanding. XC or Squanto will check me if I'm wrong, I'm sure.

That's basically it.
Instead everyone downloading the file from a single server, everyone becomes a server and a client.
A swarm of individual users all sharing parts of the file...of course, someone involved needs to have 100% of the file and those people are called seeds.

This architecture is also how torrent tracking sites skirt copyright laws. They don't actually serve the content, only metadata about where to find it.

A good torrent site I use is isohunt.com

Has a great search function and all of the movies I've bootlegged have been of high quality.

the only reason utorrent works is because of the fact that it pulls from many sources so that the exact signal is impossible to trace, or so they say. www.alluc.org, has some movies and tv shows you can watch but not download. used it a lot at tri com, to try to fight off boredom.

http://www.watch-movies.net.in/ It has movies that arent out yet. I use it every once and a while, granted, the quality isn't always that great and they don't all work, it's not terrible.

BTW the videos are streaming so no downloading or those stupid quizzes that some have.
