I don't watch the news on TV. Too much bullshit and wah-wah stories (or puff pieces, depending on the day).

Ben Folds has lost most of the Ben Folds Five archives and two grand pianos to the flood, as well.

You mean "getting ITS ass kicked". This is an exception to the grammatical rule that the apostrophe means possession (my pet project). Possession for it= "its". "It's" is a contraction of "it is".
