So i have a 2006 silverado....well lately it has been harder and harder to pump gas into it of all things.....and today i had to stop after putting in only 14 gallons....the most i can get per click is about 1/10 of a gallon.....I am not standing there for an hour to pump my gas !!! so anyways, i went to the chevy dealer and told them my problem....they told me that i have a defective vent valve in my emissions system (some where near the fuel tank).....i said, "ok well how much is the part?".....they told me that i can't buy the part because it is no longer available.... apparently the design of my emissions system had flaws in it.....and now in order to fix it, the emissions system has to be reconfigured with new and different parts....like new hoses going to to the engine, etc..... i can't just replace this vent valve because there are NONE....I even went to autozone, and when they looked up my vent valve it came up as N/A...... well so i was thinking, ok this is GM's fault....they are the ones who designed it wrong and should have to fix it.....heck if it just a replacement of a vent valve i might do it myself....but redesign my emissions system ? no thanks..... well they will fix it but at a charge of $350 to me ! WTF ? they fuck something up and i can't fix it with a replacement part, so now i am going to be charged for their fuck up ?? fuckin' BS ! |

1 word: Junkyard There's got to be a wrecked 2006 silverado out there somewhere. Did they give you any indication how hard it would be to replace if the part were available? Sometimes anything involving the gas tank (submerged fuel pump etc.) can be a giant pain in the ass no matter what it is. |

"Only" 14 gallons? How much gas do you need? Let me take that back - if you use your truck for work, you have every right to it. If you drive a big truck because you're a "man's man", well, I won't insult you, but I don't agree with it. That being said, I empathize for you. A junkyard might be your best bet, like XC said. I've had a lot of luck in my local yards finding parts for my car, and it's much older than yours. Otherwise, you might just need a big straw to suck it up |

I don't understand why the volume of the tank should matter...do you like filling up more often or less often? |

My car is 20 years old and gets 28mpg... why are "new" cars barely beating that? Were the Japanese just THAT DAMN GOOD at making efficient engines? |

Were the Japanese just THAT DAMN GOOD at making efficient engines? Efficient small engines are great for putting around town and commuting. Some people have boats and trailers to tow, drive off road and haul lots of equipment or cargo. By all means be mad at the dipshit that commutes in a hummer, but don't vilify anything with a big engine. |

Yeah, every time I see some uppity self important 'real housewife' get out of their H3 their husband is paying for to head into the tanning salon to make sure their fake bake is well done so they can look good for their afternoon fuck session with their pool boy, I get a little mad. |

The hummer H2 is hands down the worst injustice ever thrust upon a V8 engine. http://fuh2.com/ |

Both the H2 and H3, are just awful. The build quality is horrendous. |

I have heard really good things about the newer Ford models. Still going to buy Jeep in the future, but if you want American and you want fuel efficiency, go Ford. Can't wait for my 70th year edition 2011 JK. Pumped. |
