In the UK, large ISP's will now be required to compile and maintain lists of their customer suspected of copyright infringement. Even better, recording companies and movie studios have the right to request copies of this database so they can pursue legal action. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/10183820.stm I'm not on the pro-piracy bandwagon, but this is effed up. |

It's a smart anti-piracy move. If nothing else, the scare factor outta help out. |

As long as that stays in the UK, pirates over here are fine. |

There's something plain wrong about a government instructing a private company to spy on their customers and share that data with another private company without the consent of the customer. |

I look at it as the company "trying to get their shit back". It's like if your credit card was stolen and used; you'd want to see where it was used, then try to find video of the guy using it. Then work your way backwards until you find the guy. I equate it to that. |

I'm not faulting the copyright owners for wanting to be compensated, I'm saying a government shouldn't be the facilitator. ISP's were already cooperating with copyright owners for the most part and this will cost them a lot of money to enforce. |
