Was it better than Memento? If Christopher Nolan managed to top Memento, then I'll have to start walking to the theater now.

I think it's better, yea. And it's also a fantastic film-going experience, too.

She takes good roles and I genuinely think she's a good person.

I scrolled through this thread soooo cautiously in case there were spoilers haha.

Planning on maybe seeing it tomorrow night with my brother. No one else is home, so might as well do something to get out of the house. I'm looking forward to it.

inception kick some pretty serious ass.

i actually argued about parts of the movie with my siblings for a solid 90mins. we were all in agreement that the movie was great, we were just going over story.

anyway, inception to Nolan 10 years to write...so...

in 10 years, James Cameron gives us 9ft tall blue cats
in 10 years, Christopher Nolan gives us dream fuckery

Eight years. Nolan pitched inception right after he did Insomnia in 2002. :P

That's not fair to Avatar. I could easily sum up the two as such:
In 10 years, James Cameron gives us an multi-species existential crisis
In 10 years, Christopher Nolan gives us a fancy-pants heist movie

Neither movie can be summer up in sentences of such brevity, and to attempt to do so does a disservice to both.

The length of time it took him to write the movie was what he mentioned, not how long it took him to get a studio to accept his pitch and develop the film.

hmm, good question mike. i think she helped the movie because she was good. while another actress could have played the part and it would probably have worked out fine i think Page actually brought her own thing to the role (and i really dont think shes that good of an actress).

while you are technically correct with avatar. but the thing, for me, is that the whole basis of the story is more or less, a visually orgasmic alien, rendition Pocahontas/Fern Gully. If you look at Inception though, the story/idea that Nolan came up with is way beyond the one that Cameron came up with. Yes, Inception is at its core a heist (or anti-heist) movie but as far as i know, the whole idea of planting ideas in a dream (or removing them)/manipulating of dreams coupled with the problems that could arise out of such an action is fairly unique.

Planting ideas, yes. But you throw a night-time/noir gloss over Inception and you get a bigger budget Dark City. Hell, what the architects can do might as well be called "tuning".

Don't worry, I'll be sure to use the spoiler tags if I'm going to talk about the movie!

I think it was a little bit of both, but I thought she did a great job.

So you youngsters never saw or heard of Dreamscape? This basis of Inception is a cover of Dreamscape. No big deal, there really aren't original movies anymore, but just so you guys know the idea is 25 years old...

I don't know...the plot is similar but you could also say that the Nightmare on Elm Street movies are similar too. It's not the first movie about going into people's dreams, but Nolan's spin on it was unique I thought. The idea of "inception" and the extraction, the layers, each person's totem, the kicks, limbo, etc... I thought it was really nicely done and it was one of those thought provoking plots that makes it so the audience has to think, I mean you couldn't just sit there and be taken along for the ride without thinking about it.

It just seems nowadays there are so many movies being made with the sole purpose of having crazy special effects, and it leaves us with a weak storyline... But this movie had the fantastic special effects coupled with an interesting, thought provoking plot along with a great score to help carry the movie. I loved it.
