On wednesday, one of my better friends from college got into a car accident.

thursday, he was considered braindead and the doc advised the family to pull the plug and donate the organs before they failed.

his liver started to fail (he was showing jaundice) and the doctors believed his kidneys were going to fail. friday morning there was a meeting with the ethics committee and they gave dave 24 hours before the plug was pulled.

saturday morning, his blood pressure had raised for the third time in 16 hours and the nurses had to decrease his medicine. a few hours later, he pooped all by himself. at this point the doctors rescinded the order to pull the plug.

last night, he took a few breaths by himself, and some sensors saw that he moved his eyes behind his eyelids.

as of this morning, he has stretched and rotated both arms...completely by himself.

there are over three thousand people praying for him according to the facebook group. it definitely is amazing how so many people will rally to help another person....some which don't even know him.

so keep your hopes up and/or pray that dave keeps improving.

I hope your friend pulls through without major brain damage.

not going to lie...thursday (when i found out) was the first day i have cried since my big brother figure was killed by a drunk driver in january 2002. and i imagine that the next time i see dave i'll probably cry too.
