Appears to have originated, like most evil things, in Quebec.

You know, one of the largest fault systems east of the Rockies runs right through NY.

That was an earthquake? I was all "WHY IS MY ROOM MOVING RIGHT NOW?!" Clearly I've never been to SoCal.

Now I'm excited that I've actually felt one.

That's typical...I've been in California for over 10 years and you really only feel about 50% of "normal" magnitude earthquakes.
If you're walking, running, riding a bike, driving in a car etc. it's pretty difficult to notice.
I've even missed some because I was sitting in an office chair that had wheels.

Of course, anything above 6.5 or so will get your attention no matter what you're doing.

People were saying they felt it places like Kitchener, Guelph and other places in Southern Ontario and 30-40 min away from London and I never felt a single movement at all.

My brothers downstairs didn't feel a thing, but upstairs my entire bedroom was shaking and it was impossible not to notice.
