A quick compilation of health inspection reports at sporting arenas. Makes you think twice about eating at some of these places.

We did pretty good around here.

Quote:
HSBC Arena
Buffalo Sabres
Vendors with critical violations: 8%

Inspection report excerpt: Two critical violations for having a toxic chemical in an unlabeled spray bottle.

Ralph Wilson Stadium
Buffalo Bills
Vendors with critical violations: 12%

Inspection report excerpt: In one case an inspector ordered workers at one stand to toss all hot dogs and sausages because they were too warm while waiting to be cooked.

Other arenas....not so much.

Quote:
Yankee Stadium
New York Yankees
Vendors with critical violations: 48%

Inspection report excerpt: Five hot dogs registered 91 degrees in a hot-holding unit when they were supposed to be no cooler than 140. Inspectors also had a vendor dump a bottle of Chivas Regal whiskey containing dead fruit flies.

RBC Center
Carolina Hurricanes
Vendors with critical violations: 67%

Inspection report excerpt: Inspectors cited one vendor after watching employees handle raw, breaded chicken while loading fryers and then handling cooked food without changing gloves or washing hands. The employees placed cooked chicken back in the same container used to pre-portion raw chicken before cooking.

Cowboys Stadium
Dallas Cowboys
Vendors with critical violations: 72%

Inspection report excerpt: In its first season, Cowboys Stadium had a relatively high percentage of critical violations, including several for inadequate hand-washing facilities. At one kiosk, hot dogs were 71 degrees, almost half the required holding temperature of 135 degrees.

It's amazing how crappy these brand new billion dollar stadiums are.

Canada did well. They sure can scrub!!

Quote:
Air Canada Centre
Toronto Raptors, Toronto Maple Leafs
Vendors with critical violations: 0%

Inspection report excerpt: No critical or major violations.

Rogers Centre
Toronto Blue Jays
Vendors with critical violations: 0%

Inspection report excerpt: No critical or major violations.

Scotiabank Place
Ottawa Senators
Vendors with critical violations: 0%

Inspection report excerpt: No critical or major violations.

We have a tie for first place. Washington, DC and Tampa Bay share the 'Don't eat here!!' trophy!

Quote:
Verizon Center
Washington Wizards, Washington Capitals
Vendors with critical violations: 100%

Inspection report excerpt: Mice droppings, a critical violation in Washington, were found at at least 10 vendors.

Tropicana Field
Tampa Bay Rays
Vendors with critical violations: 100%

Inspection report excerpt: Several violations addressed dirty countertops, utensils and equipment. Although every report indicated a critical violation, all vendors met basic inspection standards to keep operating.

Anyone ever eat at these stadiums?

Two years ago I bought a hot dog and coke from the old Yankee stadium in the bleacher section and thought the hot dog was pretty bad.

I've never had a problem with Bradley Center (Milwaukee WI) food, or at my one time at the HSBC Arena... I consider myself lucky I went to 'good' stadiums.

That wasn't a hot dog that was the remains of Jimmy Hoffa

Oh what the fuck...they're so damned crazy for chicken down here you'd think they'd know how to handle it. As if going 0-5 at RBC center since i've been down here wasnt reason enough to never go back to that arena, this probably pushes it over the edge.

HAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA! I can 100% vouch for this. I worked a few games to help raise $$ for my schools basketball team. Horrible, unsanitary...the beer is so watered down too, for 8 bucks a pop!

I drink in the parking lot before hand...

The only thing I've ever eaten at any of these arenas is nachos...once. I don't trust anyone is these buildings with dead animal meat, and I suppose even the non-dairy cheese sauce is risky. Even the beer sucks. It's just best to eat out before walking in. You get a better meal at a better price, with un-watered down beer.

I've eaten nachos with jalapenos and popcorn at HSBC. HSBC arena is pretty good actually.

We can't all be perfect like Canada, right? :D

I got a stomach ache from a pretzel at HSBC once, but I think it was just from having that plus a bunch of other crap in my stomach before the game. That and I may have gotten a flat pop once. Besides that, no issues or complaints there besides the prices.

I've eaten pizza, nachos, beef on weck, gelato, and pretzels and drank beer and pop at HSBC and I've never had a problem with anything. I wish they'd do hotdogs like proper WNY dogs, though.

What brand do they sell? Nothing can beat Zweigle's Sahlen's.

Fixed that for you ;)

But really, it's not about the brand they sell (I'm pretty sure it is Sahlen's) but it's more that they don't chargrill em.

Thats too bad.

I've had Sahlen's before (my buddy's grandparents are from Buffalo and swear by them) but it just doesn't get any better than Zweigle's.
