I posted this story in the Dear Blank, thread, but I thought the idea was a thread in itself. On another note, I was coming back from Buffalo from the Allentown Art Festival/Bisons Game this past summer and, like always stopped at the Pembroke rest area. I walk in, and pick a random urinal near the door. Anyone who has been to the rest area knows that the line of urinals stretches all the way to Canada. It's around 1am so there isn't a soul in the bathroom. Some weirdo comes in and decides to pee in the urinal RIGHT NEXT TO ME. I seriously wanted to turn and just pee all over him, but my shy bladder probably wouldn't have let that happen. And let's face it, turning and waving your dong at someone is just awkward. Anyone have any similar instances in which someone completely ignored a courtesy that is universal, or there was a mystifying lack of etiquette? |

I have had that happen before also, I hate that crap. Also no one has the decency to do anything helpful to anyone, like holding a door or at least saying thank you when you do it for them. |

Yeah, one of the girls I used to work with could not hold a door open to save her life. Especially useful in our building because all the cube-areas required keycard access. |

One time, there was a car in my driveway, I can't remember who's it was, but anyways, our neighbor comes home, so we just told the girl neighbor to sit tight and we were going to let her in to the parking spot a few meters away. So she flips me off, I go wtf is she doing, and she tries going around the car. See, this driveway is so small, 1 car can only fit in it. She basically rammed into her own house (Which is split into sections for weirdos to live in, but it wasn't her slice of the house), the car in the driveway moves, and she goes into the parking spot we were going to move to to let her in (after we move for her). She gets out of the car, and totally disregards me yelling at her. She walks into the house mumbling something, I yell "what are you saying? let me hear it?". I seriously wanted to take a golf club and wreck her car, but too bad for her I'm a stable person (slightly). So, next time I saw her I called her a crazy bitch, which she so very much deserved. She got arrested a while ago or something. She came back but moved, now there are a bunch of idiot kids that play hacky sack in the driveway. (At least they move and wait to get in). So yeah. She also hit the garbage cans one time at the side of my house. This time, she was leaving, so she could only see me come out and yell. |

Meh, I think 'common courtesy', just like 'common sense' is a complete myth. If they DID exist, we'd ALL have them (since by their name and definition they are supposed to be 'common') |

Common courtesies people don't do: -Holding the door -not smoking within 5 feet of any building I have to walk out of because there isn't any other way -not listening to music so loud I can hear it (when you're using headphones) -typing on your keyboard quietly in the office -talking quietly in the office -In the house I rent in: -*cleaning after yourself (this includes after shaving, and after using MY kitchen utensils) -**note: the dishwasher does not mean it's clean when using my kitchen utensils -*returning my stuff after using them oh FFS i could go on and on about stupid people.. |

I really never get bothered when people are outright rude to me. I don't know why. I should be a waitress or something. Also, I completely follow the urinal rule of not taking one next to one that is currently occupied unless it's absolutely necessary, only with stalls in the women's restroom. |

Agreed on the pisser courtesy. My MAJOR pet peeve is people who dont say shit when you walk past and say 'good morning' 'How's it goin sir?' or anythign thereof. I mean just a simple fucking hello, is all I ask in return. It SERIOUSLY grinds my gears. J |

You, CV and I are all on the same page on this one. I posted in the Dear....thread also about a morning dump issue I have with someone along these lines.....it always remind me of the Alec Baldwin scene in Along Came Polly where he walks in, pisses next to Ruben, shakes his piece for 45 seconds and then proceeds to rub Rubens ear...the camera angle tells it all. You can see a row of 20 urinals and of course he pulls up RIGHT next to him. Back to my own rant....I HATE douchebags at work - or anywhere in public for that matter - who have cell phone conversations in general, and what I would consider PRIVATE cell phone conversations specifically, in the break room/an OBVIOUSLY public area SO EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS!!!! First of all, its flat out rude because people are trying to relax, eat, read, watch TV quietly, and mostly enjoy 15 minutes of peace before going back to a job most of them hate and all they can hear for 15 minutes is your loud ass on your phone while microwaving some stanky-ass meal you cooked 5 days ago talking about how much you hate your friends new boyfriend because hes an asshole. You know what, YOU'RE THE FUCKIN ASSHOLE!!!! TAKE THAT SHIT OUTSIDE OR TO AN UNOCCUPIED ROOM. There is precious little quiet/relaxation/peace time in this world as it is and you are destroying the only little bit many of us get during a 24 hour period because you are "so fucking cool" you can't wait until after work to tell someone who most likely talks shit about you behind your back, how much you hate someone else.....behind their back. /over |
