It only took them that little of time to divorce? I thought most states required you to be separated for at least a year before you are granted a divorce.

Uh no.
If both parties agree you can go sign the papers. Done deal.
Even easier if a pre-nup is involved which I'm sure it was. No legal wrangling except over custody, which they split.

also, the title of this thread should be "Elin divorces Tiger Woods" ;)

Well I know at least in NC you're required to be separated for a year before they grant it.

And I know a few other states have that law/rule too.

That sounds effed up to me. Two consenting adults want a divorce and the state won't let them?
It's definitely not like that in Ca.

It's a pathetic state of affairs when legitimate sports journalists and networks (ESPN and TSN) feel the need to cover a washed-up quarterback's arrival at his team's stadium (Favre) with fucking HELICOPTERS and "Breaking News" on-screen tags and report that a douchebag golfer's wife divorced him and got $100M for being cheated on like we fucking care.

Tiger Woods divorces his wife? More like Elin Nordegren divorces her husband.

Not really, marriage is suppose to be something special, not something that someone does 50 times in their life. I guess it can allow couples to work on their marriage and try to make it work, because Marriage is in essence special, even though it seems today the whole meaning of Marriage is thrown out the door.

The point is sports networks and journalists shouldn't be covering this like they work for gossip rags, and that it's acceptable and even encouraged points to a major problem with the industry. ESPN basically operates like E! for sportos, and that's an issue to me.

One, marriage is only special because religious fanatics say it is. Marriage used to exist only to preserve bloodlines and ensure property was given to the spouse after death. Not so much special as much as self-serving for the family and legal.

Two, Tiger Woods' game has undoubtedly suffered from everything he has gone through the past 9 months. I think his divorce is definitely relevant to the sports world since it is affecting his game. I only wonder why it took so long for Elin to find out her husband was banging just about any broad who would let him (which I don't know many who would turn down Tiger Woods) and how these girls never came out sooner. I feel like anyone would have bragged they fucked Tiger Woods. Pretty weird to me.

Anyway, I feel sorry for his kids. Thankfully they're really young and hopefully won't have any recollection of how things went down.

marriage is special because its two people who love each other. throw the religious aspects aside. its supposed to be special. when you get married, its supposed to be the ultimate bond between two people who love each other.

That's how marriage is today. That is not what marriage was originally intended for.

And religion definitely helped shape the current definition of marriage.

i agree with you, beth. and as someone who deeply believes something is out there much bigger then i am (though i dont practice it much except belief and compassion for my fellow man) i dont care what religion says about marriage. except if i do it, im not going to venture outside of it to get my rocks off. except hookers. but they are dead inside anyways.
