I've been around or owned cats my entire life but "cat people" scare the crap out of me sometimes. |

I don't like the "Will you be a neurotic nutcase or not? Guess we'll just have to wait and see!" aspect of getting a kitten. Dogs > cats |

Dogs > cats, in my subjective opinion and objectively, regarding their usefulness to humans. |

I've got a 7 lb dog and a 24 lb cat right now, but my dog is still > my cat |

Your dog might not be useful to you specifically, but species to species it's true. I love my dog. I don't like my cat all that much. |

She's still a puppy (but yeah...she's 1/2 mini dachshund, not manly at all) and my cat is a friggin monster...they're actually pretty cute next to each other. |

My puppy, well if you can call a 80lb 4 year old German Shepherd a puppy, is adorable when she wants to be. But she always loves on you all the time. |

For housepets, cats rule for sure. When it comes to travel pets, dogs are >> cats. It's all about perspective |
