Wasn't me driving...it was the girlfriend. Last time that happens.

Anyways, what do you guys think it should cost for repairs? The driver side light is busted right the hell out, the driver's side front quarterpanel is dented back near the door (I'm guessing it buckled there from the shock of impact), and there's miscellaneous cracks strewn about the front bumper, all on the driver's side. Looking at it, it doesn't look like the headlight's structural supports were bent/dented/moved.

I'm contemplating doing it all myself (just ordering the parts, taking 'em off, putting 'em on, then getting it painted...the paint job is a plan I've had for a long time anyways).

Pics later.

unless you've worked with car bodies before, don't do it. I would take it in. Your insurance may cover deer accidents...my aunt's did, and she only had liability. I would call them first.

As for price...your car is new, meaning more expensive to fix. You won't easily find the replacements at a junkyard or anything, so it's retail for you, baby. Without pictures, I don't know whether your quarterpanel is dented or buckled, those are two very different things for repair. If you have a buckle, it's fucked. If it's a dent, try and get it pulled out. Make sure you inspect the frame, too, if there was damage where there wasn't contact. If you want it totally fixed, you'll need:

a new bumper, (500 or more)
a new quarterpanel, (300 or more)
and a new headlight. (75?)

But if you're going to paint it, I'd call junkyards and just get replacement parts. You can haggle down, get quality replacements (even if the paint doesn't match), and put them on then drop 3-5k for a paint job.

I think if you went the junkyard route, it would cost around 400 bucks plus the paint job. Chances are you can get all three parts from the same junkyard, so that will lower your bottom line. But, if you don't have much body experience, and take it in to get painted and repaired...depending on your paint, you could get out for 5k.

Ps....if it matches your interior....get a deeeeeeeep black cherry paint with just a little silver flake....mmmmmmm

Right now, I just want to make it legal to drive; I'm not rolling in the cash to make it pretty immediately.

Sorry to hear that. I've hit a few deer in my time. Insurance covered it.

Do what Pat said.

LOL, it is what it is man, I can't undo it. Just want to make the car legal until I save the scratch to buy the parts. The mount for the headlight is plastic, but it looks like its somehow molded onto some metal; it's the only part I can't source OEM online, and it might be a part that comes with something else.

My intent is to buy the parts myself and then take them to a body shop for the work.

Then, it's a blue & gold paint job.

i smacked a deer this past winter.. same type of thing.. driverside headlight busted out and dented fender.. the bumper was dented in bigtime but it was a plastic bumper cover, so i took it to a body shop.. he popped the bumper out and fixed the wires inside the bumper (it shorted out my brake lights and my dashboard lights... he charged me 75 for that and i just orders the headlight glass online.. think it was $12, but this is a Cavalier.. but the body shop guy said it would cost $300-$500 to fix the fender, paint it and fix the pinstripe.. i told him not to worry about that.

Ryan911T; good call. I'll hit him up. Severed - I think my damage is a bit more extensive than what you had; the light is busted out completely; the housing was actually in the engine bay.

By blue&gold, I definitely mean Sabres themed...maybe we should have a design contest on here ;)

Here's a couple options, one is $44, the other is $280... Jesus, this is tough to figure out.

That site makes me nervous with their 'oversize item' tag...IDK what to think about it.

"Fascia" is usually a term used to describe the look of the car's front (grille, headlights, bumper, etc.) or rear (bumper, spoiler, taillights, diffuser, etc.). It looks like the fascia, in the picture, consists of everything you would need, while the bumper cover looks to be missing the grille.

The grille is fine, the damage is really centralized. Aw fuck it, I'm going to snap some pics.

You need the entire front bumper cover, a new Fender and a new headlight housing.

I'd go for just the regular bumper cover, a new fender, which I'm sure you easily could find some of these parts in a junkyard if you call about also. And a new headlight unit.

The worst part if doing it yourself would be lining up the fender properly, and that just takes a little time.
