For the first time in two decades, the Sun will sink as the full Moon rises exactly opposite to it on the day the summer ends, creating in a strange 360-degree twilight show.

I didn't have my camera, but it was sweet. Even now, I was just outside, and around the moon on the clouds was an orange ring.

We had a crazy storm over here, knocked 44,000 peeps power off for a few hours. But now, I'm gonna step outside with my tobacco pipe and search for this so called "super" harvest moon. I better at least see Mario leaping over some gorilla rolled barrels...

EDIT: Damn that is a BRIGHT old moon! I looked out my back door and I thought my motion light was on for a second, but it was the moon beaming down! Looked out the front and it was not quite as exciting, just a full bright moon.

BTW I think that it's our atmosphere that gives it an orange tint, but im not a meteorologist. I'm just a Sabres fan. And a Alexas Texas fan, you want to talk about Super Moons?

I'm no meteorologist either, so I'll take your word for it. :P

And yeah, the moon is fantastically bright tonight. It looks like one is sitting under a street light. I could see my friend's face tonight as clearly as I can during the day; the only difference was the whiter light.

If you're at UB, the eastern sky cleared up enough to see the moon in the east for a short period of time while there was an orange glow in the clouds to the west.

Showed how perfectly east/west the spine is.

Exactly. When the moon is lower on the horizon, we have to look through more atmosphere. Red penetrates the atmosphere better than any visible light color, so when you're looking at the moon low on the horizon, it appears shifted toward the red end of the spectrum. When it rises to a higher point in the sky, you are looking through much less atmosphere, revealing a more true color.
