So seriously, when my resume has been tailored to match your job requirements and I meet (and have proven experience in each and every one), why do I not get an interview?

To the HR department of the hospital I've applied for (4 different positions, each of which I'm WELL qualified for, willing to pay my own relocation, and willing to take a pay cut for, just to be closer to my children):

Fuck you. I hope you hire a worthless piece of shit that destroys your network by implementing policies that only he understands with no documentation, and then sexually harasses someone, forcing you to fire him, and start from scratch.

I take job hunting seriously; I don't use a canned resume for each position. I take the position description, line my experience up with it, and if I meet 70%, I go with the best format possible and submit. It's fucking time consuming, and I feel as though I'm not even given a single look.

Your interview might have went something like this:

Have you tried calling and asking why you're being rejected?

What kind of position were you applying for? Aren't you in computers?

I've been trying to land internships and I've had some interviews scheduled and then all of a sudden they call or e-mail me back saying, "Wait, nvm." I don't get it... It's ironic because I've gotten hired at every job I've applied for, but now when I'm actually looking for a job that doesn't even pay me, I can't even get a damn interview.

Network Engineer (title misleading, it's actually a systems engineering job, as the job description reads), Systems Engineer, and Systems Analyst in their Business Analysis department. It just doesn't make sense.

I called when I applied a few weeks ago to a different position and the HR guy got very snooty and said "you just don't have the experience we're looking for". I showed him that my resume matched every bullet, and his response was "you don't have experience in the /medical/ field". I let him know that a computer doesn't care what the information is; that I'm well versed in Privacy Act and HIPAA requirements, systems security, etc, AND that the position description didn't list a requirement for medical experience. I've written acceptable use policies, and investigated policy violations through to resolution.

And I realize I'm blessed to even BE employed; but the way I see it, if I take a job I like better, it opens a job for someone else.
