It struck me, as I was standing in line at the bank, watching the tellers, that I know a little bit about what they have to do since I have a friend that works at Bank of America. While this "insider info" is pretty well meaningless, still interesting nonetheless.

Everyone here has friends in a variety of industries, and works in one themselves. What insider info do you have? Any of it useful?

I used to have a buddy that worked for a automotive engineering facility for GM, Hyundai/Kia, Fiat, Audi, BMW, etc. that used to always have access to prototypes and technology that many didn't know about.

He had access to the new Hyundai Sonata and Sonata Turbo before they were released, he got to sit in the pre-production Chevy Cruzes, test vehicles, etc. I was jealous about that part of his job.

But, he got a new job and now I'm looking for a new insider...

I have some buds in some pretty big regional bands so I have been able to get the VIP treatment at a few venues. Getting to hang back stage, get hooked up with local extras and what not.

I worked in a bank for 15+ years, and all the 'inside info' I got was who could balance their accounts, and who couldn't. And some who couldn't balance them were in 'high' places in schools, volunteer organizations, and politics. If I could have been a whistle blower, I would have...but there's a confidentiality statement that you sign before you're hired, so you can't tell anyone anything.

Pretty sad when the guy running for supervisor of the town can't keep his personal finances in order, but he gets voted into office anyway.

Oh the stories I could tell about Carl Paladino...

(he's married to my mom's cousin)

Buffalo is such a small town... I have "insider info" on a lot of things. My dad is a freelance director/producer in the area, so he knows basically everyone.

well...I know the 2 guys that founded MySpace and how and why they did it.
They're complete assholes and not that clever.

I know a fair bit about how google operates and what they're infrastructure looks like because I'm friends with some guys that used to make their servers.

I know some classified level information about the US's theater and national missile defense systems (I had clearance at one point in my life).
