It's a neat idea, but if it were used in the US people wouldn't know what the hell to do. We have some of the stupidest drivers over here, there is no way people would be able to understand this.

I have to agree! Pittsburgh is by far filled with the worst drivers on the planet! Its simply awful!

The Pittsburgh Left - When some idiot in Pittsburgh wants to make a left after the light turns green, they just make the left, right into on coming traffic... no arrow signaling they can make a left... its so bad at some lights they actually have signs "Left turn yield on Green"

Lets talk about a Yield sign.... yeah, in Pittsburgh that means STOP! .... Merging onto a highway, oh a yield sign.... lets FUCKING STOP until their are NO cars coming! Almost got into a couple great accidents when I first moved here because Yield = STOP here...

A Tunnel... with nothing on either side... a simple Tunnel thats isn't even a mile long in the middle of a highway = SLOW down from 60 to 25.... causing more unnecessary traffic jams because people are afraid to drive through a fucking tunnel!

How about a 4 way stop... with 3 pittsburghers and myself. i will be the LAST one to the stop and the first one to go... simply because they don't know how to treat a 4 way stop! This person waves that person on. that person flashes their lights at another person. its a fucking annoying comedy of errors... its a fucking 4 way stop, not rocket science.

God for bid it rains or snows.... Or one of my favorites, one time some stupid pedestrian was trying to cross the street just off the apex of a pretty tight turn. You could not see through this turn. But the Pittsburgh driver felt bad, so STOP DEAD in the middle of the fucking road to let the pedestrian walk across the street. There was no walk way, no anything, just stop, I come around the turn at 45 (not speeding) to a car stopped dead so some idiot can walk across the street... and Im the asshole for locking up the brakes.... dumb bastards...

Everyone that was born and raised in Pittsburgh should have their fucking license revoked until they go back to school and learn how to drive....

In all i like the city, BUT I drive a LOT for work and see all sorts of stupid shit that baffles me!

I would love to see better driver education and harder tests. Some parents that don't know how to drive are teaching their kids how to, which results in kids not knowing some of the basic rules of the road. Take the left lane on expressways and highways for example, I see so many people driving at or below the speed limit here, and I guarantee you that when they learned how to drive, nobody told them this. That was one of the first things I told my little brother when he was learning how to drive. I mean come on, there are freaking signs that say "slower traffic keep right". /rant

I just wish there was better education and harder tests, it would've helped me out when I was younger. I got my license even though I screwed up many times on my test. I'll admit that I had no idea about all the rules of the road when I got my license.

gotta agree with you there... its to damn easy and the proper things are not taught! Kids need to be taught what to do if the car looses grip, starts sliding etc... to this day on the first decent snow fall i hit a big parking lot and fuck around. stab the brakes. mash the gas. grab the e brake. yes its fun, but it also reminds me what the car does when I might need to do that...

and how about the stupid moron congress paraded out this summer when they were taking toyota to task... testifying, that her car was out of control and was exceeding 100 mph and all should think of was to call her husband and say good bye.... you stupid fucking moron... you can call your fucking husband but you can't throw the car into neutral... you cant kill the key... no you can whine to congress and call your husband.... you should not be fucking driving! Dumb ass... sorry... that just pisses me off...

Don't get me started on the Toyota fiasco lol. I'll just say I don't agree with Congress and many of the others who had the "unintended acceleration" happen to them.

But you're right about the snow. I'm all for driving safe too, but when people have huge 4WD SUVs built for off road and go 30 mph in a 55 during a light dusting it pisses me off. God forbid it starts to rain too, you'd think that the roads were covered in ice.

in kalamazoo, they have timers off to the side that let you know when they are going to change, as well as a ping that sounds every second. extremely helpful.

i actually listened to part of her testimony. she said that in the 30 seconds her car was "out of control" she called her husband, put the parking break on, put the car in neutral, and put the car in reverse...and none of this stopped the car...

now while im not the most fluent in automotive. i know enough that if she threw the car in reverse when she was going 100mph she would have fucked her transmission and the car would have stopped. it was almost comical about what she said she did in 30 seconds.

Subaru drivers in the snow. Oh my fucking god. I don't know what it is about these people, but you have a car with four wheel drive (granted a light car), you can go faster than 20 MPH!

On the flip side, I hate how people with SUVs think they're invincible in the snow. That shit is still slippery folks.

Last night as I was coming home from Buffalo, I was in the left hand lane doing 75-80 with cruise control on. As I'm passing a car in the right hand lane this asshole comes up behind me and starts flashing his brights repeatedly and tailgating. Now I didn't feel like going 85 just to pass someone 10 seconds faster so I just left the cruise on and completed the pass. Whatever if they can't wait 10-15 seconds, fuck them. The most retarded part was that when I did move into the right hand lane, the car was barely going any faster than I was. Like I can understand if you're going 90, (even though it still makes you an asshole), but flashing the brights at someone going 77 so you can pass them going 79? What the fuck?

I also hate people that can't be bothered to use a turn signal.

NC drivers suck just as bad.

But this light would never work out in the world.

I HATE Subaru drivers. Always in the left lane going slow, under the speed limit on normal roads, and always think they're not doing anything wrong. I HATE Subaru drivers.

The company is filled with some self-righteous people too, I've had to deal with them about something I wrote and they didn't agree with. They told me that I should do my research, and basically that the field I was getting into wasn't a good idea to get into. Low and behold a number of magazines said the same things I had to say, and a couple months later I got a job.

A buddy of mine who worked in the auto industry said that they acted like they were God's gift to cars whenever his company had to meet with them. I'm sorry but even though they build respectable cars (especially the older models) I don't like them at all.

Everyone down here thinks their Dale Jr or something, because, I'll put money on it, no matter how fast you are driving, you will get passed by someone going faster than you.

People here drive quite well, actually. The only complaint is that sometimes they are too nice at four-way intersections, which are abundant.

WNY drivers have at least one prevalent vice that is noticeable even to toddlers. When my youngest brother was two, my mother asked him what the green, red, and yellow lights meant before telling him anything. He got the green and red correct, but when asked what yellow means, he said, "Speed up!" :P

The yellow light thing is around everywhere. Even I said that when I lived in PA, and some of my friends who were born here have said the same thing about it.

We have crosswalk timers here that basically do the same thing...I can see as I'm approaching an intersection how many seconds until it goes yellow and inversely, waiting at a red light, how many seconds until it goes green.

Most big cities have them. I think Raleigh has a few of them. I don't really pay attention to them when I'm downtown.
