Last May, Jake Schutter was pitching in a Little League game in suburban Chicago when the batter blasted a line drive back toward the mound. The ball violently hit the 11-year-old on the left side of his head and he immediately started vomiting after falling to the ground.

I understand the sentiment.
But when you're talking about college programs, even large established ones, there's not much money there. Going to wood bats would really be costly for them, since they break and would need to be replaced so often.
If we're talking about 11-year olds, on the other hand, then broken bats should be very rare, so there would be nominal extra cost vs. using aluminum bats. However, if youth leagues started outlawing aluminum bats, then Easton would sue them!!!
From a legal standpoint, why just sue the bat company? Sue the company that made the baseball, too! Sue the company that made the batter's batting gloves! Sue the company that made his cleats! Fuck, sue everybody!

Meh, if the family really thought they were dangerous, they wouldn't have let the kid play in the first place. My ruling, put some ice on the ear and don't play in a league and at a position that you can't handle.
