Hey everyone,

I'm planning on going ice skating with my friends down at Rotary Rink soon, and it made me think it would be fun for us to have our own get together down there too. For those of you who don't know, Rotary Rink is an outdoor ice rink located on Main Street downtown. It's free admission to skate, and if you need to rent skates, it's $3. We could skate for a few hours or so and then warm up at a nearby bar/restaurant...Pearl Street Grill is just a short metro ride down the street.

It doesn't have to be during a Sabres game, but if you guys want to do that, we could always arrange it so we can skate beforehand and then head over to Pearl St. or something to watch the game.

So what do you guys think? You in?

I will probably pass on this one. Been traveling a lot lately. The ducks game on the 21st, the WJC PT game the 22nd that got canceled (way to not post that fact online so I didn't find out until I was already in Rochester), and out to Buffalo for the Bruins game on the 1st. Christmas present to my sisters. So I'm pooped for travel.

I'm in. I haven't been down there the last couple seasons, and I miss it.

Just pick the time and date.

I dunno, depends, I'm relocated to Jamestown for a while. Atleast until January 10th or 13th, depending on what my monetary situation is like.

Find a date, and give me an idea of a date, and I can give you a definite answer.

Yeah, still need to think of a date... I was thinking maybe after the World Juniors, because I will be busy with my internship. But at the same time, my job is to cover events and activities in the city surrounding the Championship, so maybe going out skating wouldn't interfer with the internship after all.

I'd like to go while I'm up, but idk when I'm heading back to school. It'll probably be the beginning of January when I'm leaving.

Hah...one time when I was skating there was an employee who was just walking around on the ice and I was like, "Why aren't you skating?" and he goes, "Pfft...I don't know how to skate on ice, I just know how to make it."

Yeah, I was a little annoyed, ended up hanging out a bit with a friend in Rochester before heading home so it wasn't a total downer.

If you do it in late January I might go then. I'm just travel-saturated right now.

that guy sounds like a genius.

i'll at least try. i was always deprived as a child of ice skating. i don't know why. it's something i've always wanted to do, though.

Late January would work for me. Would you guys rather skate during a Sabres game? I'm looking at their schedule in January right now. I know Pearl Street Grill is crazy during Sabres games, but has anyone watched a game there when the team is on the road? I know partially the reason Pearl St is nuts during game day is because people going to the game go there to pregame. So maybe an away game would be better.

Yeah, give it a go...it's not so bad! Just don't try a hockey stop or anything like that.

i'll be in d.c. from the 12th to the 19th, but if it's before or after i can make it. i'll be keeping my eye on this thread.

also, i'll be at the game on the 11th to see the game against the flyers. i find myself conflicted about that, but i am a sabres fan first and foremost.

Might be a little slow on updates in this thread for a bit. Caro is working for the WJC, and she's not allowed to be on message boards / Facebook / Twitter until that's over.

Yeah...I'm kind of breaking that oath, oops. As long as I don't mention anything pertaining to my internship, I should be good. Plus I don't know if they'll be looking for me on here. :P

Anyways, I just took a look at the team's schedule... How about Friday, January 21st, against the Isles? 7:30 puck drop. Not sure when all the UB people get back for school, but I start on the 24th. If the weather doesn't work out, we could always just head over to a bar and pregame or something instead of skating.

I'm completely open to different dates depending on everyone's availability, just throwing one out there.

I like the 21st. I think I'm taking that week as a mental health vacation, but I promise that I'll shower first.
