Post subject:  How Long Does It Take To Become A New York Resident?

I'm planning on applying to UB for a Masters Degree in a couple of years. I know it would be a hell of a lot cheaper if I am a New York resident though. So how long does it take to become an official resident of New York? My brother said I can put his address down as mine, but I would like to know when to do it so it is official before I start the application process. Also, are there any websites with this information as well?

Thanks

from what ive put up with, at least for undergrad, its 12 months living in NYS

also, if they suspect you are living in NYS for educational purposes alone, they will still charge out of state

Well, I was planning on taking a few years off between undergrad and grad school, so I guess I'll have to spend some of that time in NY.
