Since John Hinckley Jr.'s little escapade, the Federal requirement for an insanity plea is pretty damn high. You have to prove that the person didn't know right from wrong when they committed the crime. Since there are already piles of evidence that this asshat planned way in advance and wrote goodbye and sorry messages to various people there's no way he could live up to that requirement. He knew what he was doing was wrong. |
