Well this i for you software techies I guess. I ran a malwarebytes full scan and it found two threats. I removed both threats one was a folder and the other was on a registry key. The registry key was this hkey_local_machine\software\windows\currentversion\run\groupmanager (trojan.agent). And after it got deleted and I rebooted my computer the Windows 7 Aero stuff won't work, my sound won't play even after reinstalling the drivers, my computer won't connect to the internet, and doesn't even show the wireless logo, and also wouldn't let me run a system restore, and when I got that working there wasn't any restore points so I got computer that won't do anything for me. I'm currently downloading a recovery disk for Windows 7 to see if that will do anything for my computer. I was just wondering if you guys would know what I could try and do. Or if you can end me to other forums or something where people will know how to fix the computer. I have access to anything on the web with this computer if I need it. |

Looks like taking out the trojan took the Win32 system file with it which has happened to me before. I couldn't open anything on my computer, but I was still able to back everything up and save it. Then I cleared the hard drive and reinstalled windows. I'm not an expert though and there's a chance that what I said may be at least partially gibberish. Also, in before DF is an asshole. |

I was thinking that too, that the trojan attached itself to an important file which wiped out many features. Hopefully the recovery disk will work and it will fix everything, if not I'm prepared to either find another copy of Windows 7 or go to XP with the computer. I have an external HDD and got saved what I want to keep, so I am prepared to go full restart mode again. |

Damn, my image loader won't load, so I can't even load up the iso files for recovery disk. This blows. |

Full re-install mode is probably going to be your best shot. I hate advocating that, but it will take less time than trying to figure out how to restore whatever damage the trojan and friends caused. |

Yea I'm thinking that as well, I'll just have to find a recovery disk or something then. Or redownload win7. |

Since I installed Windows 7 on my computer and never actually bought it, I'm in a bind. The computer won't connect to the internet so I can't even run Daemon Tools to get to the iso file that has a recovery disk in it, but I can on my mom's computer, but everything is making me mad with this. And I don't have any blank CDs to even see if it can make it's own recovery disks, whether they be Vista or Win 7. Might as well go ask around on tech forums then. |

can you get into safe mode with networking? it sounds to me like you've still got a virus, not that you cleaned your system. |

I can get into safe mode, but networking won't work, so I'm lost. I was thinking making a recovery disk from the computer I'm using to reinstall Vista onto the computer, but I don't know if you can cross use the recovery disks from different computer brands. My computer is an old POS Compaq that originally had Vista on it, and the one I'm using is a much newer computer made by Gateway running Vista on it. |

I might have been wrong about the system restore partition being faulty, I went into the Recovery Manager and went to system restore and clicked it, and it restarted the computer, so it seems like it's going to reformat everything. Hopefully it works then. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu ... #RecoverOS |

Daemon tools won't load on the computer. It gives an error, or it did. I have it installed on my portable HDD, but I need an internet connection so I can get the trial version to load up the win 7 recovery disk I have downloaded. I don't know, even the recovery stuff won't work when I loaded it, it restarted the computer but won't open back up like it's suppose to. |

Skyline_BNR34 wrote: I'm about to just throw it out my window and say fuck it. Go download an Ubuntu CD (www.ubuntu.com) and burn it with an .ISO burning program (Final Burner Pro, use the trial) and stick that into your computer when you reboot. Use that and if you like it you can install it. Note that all of your winBLOWS files are still there and accessible from Ubuntu. </ubuntu member duties> |

I first would need to get me a CD or DVD. I do have a Win 7 recovery disk in iso file though. I don't want to go to Ubuntu, because Windows is easy to use for me. haha. |

It may have fixed itself, but I'm still going to do a system restore on the thing. Unplugged it during startup and startup recovery came up and it restored it to an earlier point, everything work, but it still is a POS and need to be reformatted. Downloading WIN 7 recovery disks now. |
