I'm a mac owner but I'm afraid that my desire for programs and apps is pretty tame. The barnes and noble ereader app can be used by both the laptop and the iphone but it doesnt play well with ibooks files, which by the way can only be read by iphone and not macs. So buy your books through B&N and use their apps. That's all I got.

I'll be interested to learn of any interesting programs myself.

If you bought a new Mac, you should have the Mac App store on your dock.

When you open that, you have access to thousands of free and paid apps in a broad range of functions; games, productivity, utilities, etc.

Check it out.

Don't know, I never used the beta...they're up to version 10 so it's safe to say it's improved a lot.

I also vote Chrome. Was a big FF guy for a long time but Chrome has won me over.

I've fixed my problems with FF4 and can't recommend it enough. Love my add-ons, love my theme, love all the little things about it.

So chrome is a google operating system?! Do I have to create a separate partition for it?

Chrome OS is based on the open source chromium project. Chrome is also the name of a browser...we're talking about the browser.
