Hey all.

I'm looking into getting a semi cheap computer to hook up to my TV. I've looked at the Mac mini and it seemed intriguing but I also have the option of winblows .

For those that know me, I am a Linux advocate, unfortunately my fiancée needs it for work and she can only get a Mac or winblows due to the software. I have a dedicated linux box so I can't change that.

Wed try to keep it as a media center for music and online stuff so would Mac mini be enough and if winblows what would be small and do the job.

Huge note: requires HDMI hookup.

Thx

I don't think the netbooks we have at Best Buy even have HDMI ports on them.

Most cheap ones do though.

I'd check into a Mac Mini to see if they have the HDMI PORT on them. If it doesn't have to be portable, I'd just get a cheap desktop for a few hundred bucks and use the Tv as the monitor.

Eff that. IF you don't need a laptop, buy a nettop, or even a small form factor PC.

Seems most of the mini pc's and the mac mini are subpar for streaming things through the internet. Should I just go for a decent Desktop (regular size)?

For the same price of the Mac Mini, you can have a decent enough desktop.

A cheap desktop w/ a HDMI capable video card would be a good fit, honestly.

Let me know how it works out for you, I've been interested in one of those for a while, but haven't really had the need... my laptop has the built-in Intel Wireless display, so I've used that instead.

LOL, I just bought the laptop a few months ago...got it pretty cheap since it was a floor model, so I used the savings to buy the adapter for the TV :P
