The movie was if you didnt think and didnt try to make sense of the trilogy as a whole.

Transformers 3 is the epitome of a Michael Bay movie in every regard...meaning it has a weak story with ok at best achttp://www.sabresjunkie.com/forum/pos ... t=6245ting and a fuck ton of explosions...the whole second half could have been called "How Michael Bay would destroy Chicago" and it would have fit just fine. The basic idea of the story was decent, theres a transformer ship on the darkside of the moon has a new weapon that acts like a teleporter and that Megatron (whos been turned from the Destroyer of Worlds to a little bitch who "just wants to be in charge") knows about. This is fine until you realize that if Megatron knew about this then why try to go through the trouble working with the Fallen and destroying our sun in the second one? especially if he already had an alliance with Sentinel Prime. He should have known how to open the vault and the Fallen should never have had to get involved. But in focusing back on this movie, why did Megatron need the Autobots to open the vault? Decpticon and Autobot technology cant be that different to where they couldnt figure it out. But beyond all that, nice idea...it just doesnt really work if you line it up with the second one.

Location wise they are 8 kinds of fucked up. Apparently Sam and girl are living in DC which is fine...except the building that they used for the chicks work place is the Milwaukee Art Museum located on Lake Michigan. This building is well known for its architecture and for having retractable wings on the sides. If Bay wanted to use a cool looking building then he should have found one located within driving distance of DC...

speaking of the chick, i almost burst out laughing when they showed her "working in the white house" or whatever it was she was doing. there is a fake Michael Bay "Dark Knight" script where Rachel Dawes is described as "having a huge rack. but wearing glasses so you know shes the smartest woman in the room." after seeing the new girl in glasses, and later having her be told that shes smart, i though that script might have some validity to it...

anyway...

Every human in the movie was pointless. From Sam to new girl (who is 1000x better then Megan Fox) to Patrick Demsey, John Malcovich, chinese guy from hangover, etc. if you took them all out then the movie was exactly the same. And yes, Sam is a douche through most of the movie.

again, Megatron is a little bitch...and Transformers can apparently survive just fine with 1 arm...

8. yeah that's pretty true. but the movie really is about robots.

9. that part i didn't get, but i understand the frustration because i was in that boat...as far as being qualified and not getting a job for a while. i understand that as well, but his douchey-ness was running wild.

10. i mean...people live without one arm all the time, man. bumblebee lost his whole lower half in the first one and ratchet repaired him, sooo.... living with one arm is one thing, but after he lost it he continued fighting like it didnt matter. Even Bumblebee was out of commission until Megan Fox started driving him around.

Is it common for directors to recycle footage from previous movies (excluding obvious examples of old Disney animation)?

i wouldnt call it lazy, its penny pinching. save money when/where you can.

if he was trying to save money he could have taken out an explosion or some of the unnamed robots.

what did you think? i went to a midnight showing and i thought it was awesome. it was long, had lots of fights (dude, robots beating up robots is awesome) and a good story. loved sentinel prime getting his shit wrecked. i wish optimus had more fight scenes like the forest in the second one, but he was still awesome. Really enjoyed it.

Yea I saw it in 3D from something HP was doing. It was awesome. Towards the end of the movie I was actually wondering what was gonna happen. They should have killed off Megan Fox instead of what happened. Or as my friend suggested. He got her pregnant and he falcon punched her and took off.

I decided to see the extended edition of Return of the King instead. I feel like I made the appropriate choice compared to the people sitting outside the theatre for 5 hours waiting for Transformers.

Despite the mediocre reviews I really liked it, the Sentinel Betrayal caught me off guard and I thought the Chicago scene was really well done. I kind of felt like two movies to me because once they got to Chicago so much has happened and it had a completely different tone. The only thing I want to nit pic is the level of douche Sam showed in the first half of the movie, it got to a point where I didnt even really like him and just wanted to move on.

lol it's really funny when people go to movies based on a cartoon with a shitty plot or comic book movies with characters and plots developed over decades and expect it to be anything but a weak plot with explosions and fight scenes. they're not trying to win oscars or whatever they are. they're trying to make money.

i should have prefaced it by saying that i think Michael Bay is a terrible director whos saving grace is that he can blow shit up alot. I actually really like the first Transformers, it was fairly pissed about how much the second one sucked. This last one was better then Fallen but no where near the first one.

i really liked the movie. i did think a couple of scenes you could tell were editing cut the scene short. As well the scene on the bridge near the end cut out and all we got was static for about a minute or two.

For what it was, I liked it. I saw it in IMAX 3D and it was a great movie for that. I agree that it won't be winning any oscars for being a tremendous artsy film as we all know. I laugh when people expect movies like this to be an incredible film instead of something fun. Many people hated Taken because they complained it was just Liam Neeson chasing people around and killing them. Isn't that the point? Same thing here. It wasn't the best Transformers movie IMO but I liked it.

In all honestly, a movie about fighting toy robots doesnt need to be 2 and a half hours long and pretend to have this long cryptic plot. It should do what everyone is expecting and move on. As much as I liked this film it really did feel like two separate movies.

I saw it the first day on a crappy torrent, and now i've gone to see it in 3d. I really liked it. I'm a big fan of the series and was so disappointed by the second installment and I think this one may have redeemed it. It doesn't have a ton of plot, but this movie is still fun to watch, and that's the point. Really liked the back story about the space race.
