Hey guys, I am looking for the opinion of some tech folks. I recently purchased a new laptop (refurbished product) because I needed one. I got an offer today, to extend my warranty for 1 year, complete coverage (drops, spills, water damage, + tech support and full replacement of broken product) for $99 + tax. Is it worth it to protect my system for the next 12 months? |

If it's an all-inclusive policy, when it starts working like shit, drop it. |

My personal opinion is that extended warranties blow. Each and every time I've tried to utilize them, I've gotten fucked because of some loophole or another. |

HP's have been great with me - I've seriously just stepped on a laptop LCD because it had a few dead pixels..."accidental damage" covered it. |

You just need to lie about how it happened for the most part. It's like insurance on your phone, it starts to blow, run it over with your car or use a baseball bat. Literally what a guy told my one friend to do to his phone. I got a extended warranty on my PS3, thank goodness I did too, because as soon as my manufacturers warranty ran out, it broke. |

That was a separate warranty also, technically speaking. |

Uhhh yea. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 610AAzbJDe The Xbox had the standard 1 year like everything else and had a separate 3 year RROD warranty. I know this stuff. That's the reason the Xbox slim came out, to eliminate the RROD, which it has done. |

They were probably about ready to announce it then by the time you had the failure. They reimbursed e eryone from it too. |

Mine hasn't died. It has needed some repairs, most of which were my fault. |

What, it came out in June of last year, it's been over a year and I've never heard of the RROD on the slim Xboxs. The old Xbox casing had no airflow, which was the reason of the hardware failure as the processor came off from it getting too hot. They redesigned the case to flow more air and redid the fan in it, it doesn't do that anymore. |
