I don't like to use them, but I don't mind others using them. Here I prefer the quick reply box which does not have them as an option. My dry style goes against the use of them anyway, but there is a need for them considering how dry humor and sarcasm does not always translate well on the i-net.

I would enjoy seeing emoticons used in news reports, speeches, or media/post-game conferences. Eventually nobody would need to show emotion through facial expressions. They could simply talk and hold their stupid phone up to show the proper emoticon, or have the stupid phone speak and show the emoticon. That's progress!
