is this a good buy?

i have an old ibm/lenovo thinkpad and the thing was bulletproof. it's just slow now because it's from 2007 i think, and I can't really upgrade it to make it faster. i really like the keys that aren't loud and it just is a nice computer. i want something that's going to feel the same but obviously perform better.

Definitely a good price and thinkpads are built very well.
I can't speak for that AMD processor though, never used one although it's a decent speed. It could use more memory but that's about it and memory is cheap.

Agreed. Make sure you can upgrade that RAM. Windows 7 is going to run like dogshit with only 2.

You'll be able to start windows and not do too much more...you'd definitely want to get at least 4 or 6Gb in there.
It says it's expandable to 8Gb so you should be fine.

Yeah, I've always been an intel guy...you can't go wrong with an Intel brand MB and proc.
I was actually a little surprised to see AMD in a thinkpad.

Real men play FreeCell.

Also, XC, I'm with ya. I'll never go back to AMD.

I've never had problems with AMD chips. Used to have a ton of machines with XP1800s. Then, went to an X2 4400+ for a LONG time. Probably 4 years on that machine.

Only when I built my current i7 did I go back.

The i-series in general has been awesome for Intel. My laptop uses an i5, but I want to build a desktop with an i7.
