Hi Junkies, A group that I am part of at UB, the UB Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (UB-SEDS), is hosting a large space conference at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center from November 8-11. I know there's many people interested in space here - if you're in Buffalo, this is something you probably won't want to miss out on. We have speakers such as: -Peggy Whitson - NASA 13th Chief Astronaut -Robert Lightfoot - NASA Associate Administrator -Ed Mango - NASA Commercial Crew Program Director -Robert Cabana - NASA Kennedy Space Center Director and Retired Astronaut -Chris Lewicki - President, Planetary Resources (the Google-backed asteroid mining company) -Will Pomerantz - Vice President for Special Projects, Virgin Galactic -Dr. Harold White - Advanced Propulsion Lead, NASA Johnson (the guy who published the warp drive paper that's been making the internet news a lot lately) -Dr. Steve Howe - Director, Center for Space Nuclear Research -Chris Scolese - Director, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center -Lesa Roe - Director, NASA Langley Research Center -Matt Abbott - ISS Flight Director -Dr. Sharon Cobb - Assistant Program Manager, NASA SLS And many, many more which I won't list here, but can be found on our website. Event registration covers lunch on Friday and Saturday - a nice lunch, to be catered by the convention center. Student and young professional discounts (under 30) are available - however, if you don't fall into this category, but would like to come if the price is lower, PM me and I can provide the "young professional" rate. That's only $75 - and includes $50 worth of food - so not a terrible deal. That's pretty awesome! If I weren't 3000 miles away I'd totally be there. That's a very cool opportunity. |
