That's not a new idea or even the first time it's been done.

There have never been any issues with this type of protest in the past, I have to assume because everyone is on their best behavior and complying with all laws since they'll be under such strict scrutiny.

But has there been one of these in Washington at the White House? Seems like a potential powder keg

Well since DC has some of the most draconian gun laws in the entire country I'm doubting this is even legal, so it seems like a publicity stunt to me.

Yup, carrying a machine gun strapped to your back is wicked illegal in DC.

Aaaaand here's where the ignorance comes out (not calling you ignorant; using it to describe a lack of education). Nobody there (aside from possibly a FFL holder) will have a "machine gun" with them. Nobody will have a gun with fully-automatic capabilities. They're illegal.

FWIW, both of these are semi-auto rifles:

relax man, I know my weapons. My Qual card may have lapsed but I spent a lot of time in the dirt on the range. It was a simple generalization. To the lay person when the see someone with a semi-automatic weapon strapped to someone's back they think "machine gun". Yes it isn't fully auto but it sure isn't a hunting rifle. My visual is that a bunch of people with military "style" assault weapons screaming "MERICA!!!!!" in the middle of the capital could be a potentially disastrous event. I'm sure most people will be fine but like any good family you always have the rowdy redneck who takes everything as an attempt to disrespect his authority. One person acting like a jack wagon could turn this from illegal and unpermitted to something tragic.

I wasn't spun up, just adding to the discussion. I understand your POV, and agree with you. Gonna be a lot of 'muricans there with ARs there, but these things occur fairly often, and without incident.

I know you weren't spun. What I wrote was supposed to come over in a laid back "It's cool brother" kind of voice. Fucking internet. :D

Governments won't soon have much of a say in the gun control debate

You can already print high capacity magazines for the AR and AK. There is no banning them.

We need background checks for 3-D printers!

On a more serious note, I wonder what impact these things will have in countries where gun ownership is restricted.
