I had posted something about this in a threadjack, on the WBoD, last year...it was kind of overlooked, because the thread had descended into a running "I like pizza" joke. But, it does exist: Pizzas 4 Patriots This is a non-profit that has teamed with Pizzeria Uno and DHL Worldwide Delivery to bring a "slice of home" to our troops serving overseas, as well as vets being treated in veterans' hospitals. "Pizzas 4 Patriots is a non-profit organization with the mission of making a positive difference in the lives of our service men and women. Those patriots presently serving and our wounded veterans. It is our goal to provide our armed forces with gifts from home. Through financial donations from individuals and financial, product and service donations from organizations who want to show appreciation for the troops sacrifice. These gifts include but are not limited to any item that can bring home to the patriots. It is our goal to make them feel they are not forgotten but remembered and appreciated by the country and residents who enjoy the freedoms that they provide for us." _______________________________ ...with Veterans' Day just around the corner, anyone who might find the means to contribute to show their appreciation; touch the lives of those who serve, so far from home, and remember the veterans - as a kind reminder of our thankfulness - it would be a gesture that would not go unnoticed. It's a small thing to do, that would bring such a smile to so many. Cheers, and thanx. |

That is such a great idea. It is times like this that I really wish I had income during the semester. As it is, I could at least give a little. Giving money away is probably my favorite thing to do, to the extent that I sometimes get a little... foolish? with it, and my friends think I'm crazy.. I reeeaaaally want to do that now. XD I will just give $20, though. Anything at all is better than nothing, and I really love this. |

Pizzeria Uno??? Wouldn't getting Chicago pizza actually hurt troop morale? Just kidding Since you issued a challenge, I'm good for $100. |

I'm in. I'll let you know how much tomorrow. I'd be interested in setting up something similar in December for those that are deployed and not coming home for Christmas. Even if it's just a card/letter writing campaign, I know we can do it

Outback is also offering a "Bloomin' Onion" and a beverage, in kind... Not a heck of a lot, but the gesture is what counts. |

Ice, I am down for 50 as well. Got a PayPal? If not set one up. Makes it WAY easier to send $$$ from AZ. We got this and Outback cooking for us while I was downrange. Was some of the best food we had had in months. People who do things like this and people like you guys who contribute to make it happen are people who make it even easier for us to 'raise our right hand' J |

Okay, I set up a PayPal Secure Merchant Account ID, under my name (Daniel Ayad): RMRQPD8C8XJGJ Any transfer made through a SabresJunkie member's PayPal account will be free, and I will pay any/all transfer fees into the account, made through a debit or gift-card or bank transfer. Once a maximum goal or amount is met (and matched by myself - up to $1000) I will transfer all funds to P4P, through PayPal, and present any/all receipts provided for the transaction, for view by all board members. Hope this meets with everyone's approval - Any further suggestions or stipulations would be appreciated. Cheers.....Now, cough up... |
