I honestly think he's much better than both Mike Komisarek and Paul Martin. Komisarek is a decent defender, but he's not in Myers' league, Martin is ok, but his +/- is so inflated by playing in NJ it's kinda misleading.

What do you guys think?

I won't say it should never happen, but there haven't been many (any?) rookies put on the Olympic roster for any country I can think of in recent history. I think you're forgetting that he'd play for Canada, and they are so stocked it doesn't matter whether Myers is a rookie or not.

In four years I think Myers will be a Norris candidate and a lock for the Olympics.

In order for Myers to even be eligible to play for Team USA, he would have to not play for Team Canada for four consecutive years. Then he'd be able to switch to being eligible to play for Team USA, due to his dual citizenship. But it'll never happen - he's been quoted as saying he'll always play for Team Canada because it was in Canada that he got his chance to play hockey and excel at it.

It's funny that the poll is tied at three.

Well, to be honest, if he ever chose to defect and play for the US, I'd be ecstatic. But, I'm just as proud of him showing so much loyalty to the country that gave him the chance to do what he's doing now.

Rules about it. Can only change one in his life.

Change of national eligibility (The ‘four-year’ case)
A player, who has previously participated in IIHF competition, can switch national eligibility (but only once in a player's life) if:

* He is a citizen of the new country of his choice
* He has participated for at least four consecutive years in the national competitions of his new country, during which period he has neither transferred to another country nor played ice hockey within any other country and has not played for his previous country in an IIHF competition during this four year period.
* He has an international transfer card (ITC) that shows the transfer to the national competition of his new country and which was approved and dated at least four years before the start of the IIHF competition in which he wishes to participate.

He'd be in team USA's top six easy. Only thing that wouldnt get him on the team is being a rookie.

id be concerned about his stamina down the stretch. coming off juniors, then buffalo for a full season + olympics + playoffs... dunno if he could do it this year. i care more about the sabres playoffs then i do the olympics.

but, i was just bragging about myers to my friends this weekend in grand rapids. they are huge blackhawks fans. they had never heard of him! absurd!

For real? How do you plain not hear about the kid who's looking like he's gonna steal the Calder from Tavares?!

And yea, I know what you mean about stamina. I mean, last season he played regular season + WJC + playoffs + Memorial Cup, but the NHL is way tougher on the body.

Why is "yes" ahead 7-4? Is this supposed to be a hypothetical question, as in, "If Myers were even eligible and actually wanted to play for the USA, should he be on the team?".

If not, this is like asking if Okposo or Oshie should've made Team Canada.

And he has played in 25 minutes the past three straight games. Almost 28 against the Isles.

I'm thinking it might, in fact, be a hypothetical question.

And I don't know much about Crawford, Mike. Fill me in.

hes been passed over in the hawks goaltending pipeline by neimi. hes just rotting away in the AHL. he is highly thought of, and i think hes a better option at this point then enroth.

of course, if he was passed over, there has to be a reason. ill go scout.

Well I wish he could play for Team USA, but he is still an American and Canada gave him his dream of playing hockey.

He is still going to be one of the best American Born defensemen.

As my understanding once you play for say Canada in the world juniors means he can't play anywhere else but Canada when it comes to the Olympics and the IIHF, just like Pominville and the USA, he can't play in Canada because he has already played for the states. I heard this numerous times in the 2009 wjhc in when they bashed this idea around about him and the USA.
