well, the red army team is the professional team of moscow. they won the soviet league a shit ton of times in the 70s. they wernt players who didnt have a team who just played together, it would be like the red wings participating in the olympics.

Ham already hit the point. The teams with very few NHL players have been together for much longer, and are more cohesive units.

The other teams come around with a game or two and some practice time.

But weren't the Red-Army teams the ones who played in the Olympics though?

no. but it was a HUGE portion of the roster russia sent a professional team to the olympics. the sent virtually, the whole moscow team to the olympics. the red army was the team that toured north america in the mid 70s playing NHL teams. and the red army was just a nick name.

i can say this, though, squanto. i had ZERO intentions of watching any olympic events, and i watched yesterdays game, and some of the game this afternoon. thats a start!
