Oh snap....

well, maybe Kalinin can serve doughnuts in the locker room and demotivate them.

Looks pretty impressive to me...

Good to see that Max is included. I just still have a weak spot for him. I hope he's doing great at the Olympics.

:doh: You obviously overlooked;
Nabokov Bryzgalov Varmalov
Markov Gonchar Volchenkov
Datsyuk Malkin Kovalchuk

Did I mention Semin and Ovechkin?

I can't wait to watch these Winter Olympics. The last ones killed me with the time difference. I clearly re-call having one hour of sleep to watch the gold medal live and being a zombie all day.

There is no "D" in "The Russian Olympic Team".

Hella team of snipers, to be sure - But, other than Ovie, Malkin and Datyuk, not too much "grit" or character. (...okay, and Volchenkov, too.) :D

The larger ice-surface will definitely help their chances; not to mention their depth at goalie. These guys can go either way.

But, if they run into the Finns, the Estonians or the Lithuanians (and Canada or the US, in the later rounds) they'll have their hands full - All three (European) teams play a very physically punishing game.

Ice, since they're playing at GM Place, they're playing on NHL-sized ice and not IIHF ice. This means that it's smaller and not larger.

WOW!

I just looked it up - and you're right - the IIHF will allow all future play on existing ice-surfaces, and will NOT require rink-conversion to International or Olympic dimensions.

That's going to make it much more NHL-friendly...and dangler-unfriendly.

I take it back - The Russians are going to get pounded by anyone with an axe to grind or looking to play the spoiler role.

Agreed.

And you spelled Volchelbow wrong.
