I heard this is the first time it's going to be held in an enclosed arena. China set the bar pretty high with the last summer games so my expectations are actually pretty low for Vancouver. It's apparently still a secret who will light the Olympic cauldron with names like Gretzky and Howe being kicked around. Any guesses? Will you watch? I'm going to let me daughter stay up late and bust out our wall sized map of the world so she can see where all the countries are located. |

I didn't watch the Genocide Olympics in China and I probably won't watch the Olympics in Vancouver, unless a hockey game happens to be on when I'm in front of the set. Not really an Olympics guy. I'm just hoping Miller doesn't get hurt. |

Whaat! Well that's probably better since I'm trying to fill out a scholarship application that is due on Monday . . . smart planning by me. |

It is a made up thing - like the All-Star game. Sure, I'll watch if I think about it, but I won't get too broken up if we lose or too elated if we win. I just never caught the Olympic fever. I would trade an Olypmic gold medal for a single Sabres victory over Ottawa. |

According to an editorial I read in the local paper today, there will be tape delays even on the West coast for NBC Olympic broadcasts. In fact, I think it said all NBC (not USA, CNBC, etc.) broadcats will be on tape delay. I'll watch more of these games just because I'll be there in Vancouver a week from tomorrow. |

Wow...a tape delay even for the opening ceremony in the same time zone. That's um...weird. I think you folks on the East coast just need to sack-up and stay up later |

Yeah, it is weird. The commentary I read about NBC was pretty scathing, saying if you're going to buy exclusive rights to broadcast the games, you ought to do it right. The author said NBC just looks at the game as a vehicle to get people to watch its commercials. Hence they jump from event to event, play the events they think will draw the most viewers in prime time on tape delay, etc. |

I'll be watching as much as I possibly can. I prefer winter over summer Olympics any day. Hockey, speed skating, all skiing, and snowboarding Vancouver looks so beautiful. |

Did you guys see the clip of the Georgian luge guy that died? They actually showed him flying off the track. I am so shocked that they would actually show that. |

I will probably never again get into the Olympics as much as I did eight years ago. I was two months away from turning twelve and crazy. I also rooted for Team Canada in everything, sacrilegious as it was. My grandmother even bought me one of those hats... I'll watch the hockey when I can catch it. |

That makes no sense...just delay the ceremony to 6 PST 9 EST like any other major event. |

I'm with you Schony. Nothing really beats the winter games.
