Oh look, Ovechkin scored off a pass from Semin. In all my days, I don't think I've ever seen that before. /sarcasm |

Canada looked like shit in the 1st but once they started to mix the lines up like the Iggy, Crosby and Nash the Norwegians just never bothered. Norwegians brought in this goalie who is 6'4 and he weighs 250+ lbs |

Iggy wasn't playing with those of Crosby and Nash during the 1st but then Babcock altered the lines like crazy after the Canadians came out a little flat. |

patkane88 wrote: Did I hear that name right? Someone on Latvia's last name is pronounced sif-uh-lis like the STD syphilis Yea, I was wondering that also. But the third was pretty intense, 5 goals off of 5 shots. Latvia held in, but the Russians offense overwhelmed them. Russia will have a harder time powering through teams that make their speed and can stop the offensive pressure. Sweden, Russia, Canada, and USA are all going to be tough teams for sure. I think Russia can be stymied though, you can match their speed and shut their offense down, and put some good pressure up against their defense. |

Looking at that game last night, it was good hockey at the start! Lots of good chances by both teams then it got really, REALLY boring. I can't watch a slaughter like that and be into it unless it's against a team where there is a lot of hatred towards (EG: Russia). I know its part of the game to run the scoreboard like that because of the standings and what not, but I just can't get behind a game like that. Instead, I flipped over to the NHL network to watch some games from days gone by. Still not sold on this team, though. Canada has a lot of fire power but so don't the US, Russia and you can't count out the champs in all this, Sweden. All I see are a bunch of egos atm, much like in 2006 on Team Canada. Sure they can run the board against Norway but can they stand together against an equal or better team like the US? |

Russia actually was a very unselfish team in their game, yes, full of Superstars, but they looked for the open man instead of just shooting the puck at their own leisure. |

Is that why they went 1-8 on the PP? Probably, but their powerplay was very lacking. Seemed like they played terrible on the PP, much better 5-on-5 for sure. But Latvia made sure the lanes weren't there on the PK, plus Latvia's goalie did have to stand on his head a bit, and Russia missed a few great opportunities. |
