Definitely the language barrier, I have some asian friends who are the same way, they pronounce things different and its funny cuz they dont realize it, or they use the completely wrong word for the situation. The way our sentences are formed are a lot different then how theirs are formed lol.

My buddy Patch from Thailand came over to the house for the first time a few years ago for dinner (steak, tater tots, corn. He hadn't had a lot of American food) and went up to my wife (who he had just met) and said dead pan to her:
