Qatar just literally bought the FIFA World Cup. LITERALLY. |

is it too soon to put money on brazil? thats a shame the US didnt get it. seems as though with the MLS now in place, a world cup in the US again could really get soccer in this country booming. but, thats what she is? |

The FIFA loves to go to new markets. Quatar will build some awesome new stadions. The only 2 problems I see with Quatar is the heat (tough to play football in the desert) and liquor laws. |

I like how people are all upset about this. I mean, it's soccer, who gives a shit? The entire sport is predicated on guys faking injuries, no goals, fans rioting, blood and urine bombs, etc. (Yes, I listen to Jim Rome) |

Who gives a shit about soccer? Well, basically the entire world minus America. And in the last 10 years or so, a lot of Americans are beginning to seriously get into the sport. As far as Qatar having a problem due to heat and liquor laws: I'm assuming the stadiums they will build will be closed roof, so they will be air conditioned. Liquor laws: Qatar is actually one of the more liberal countries in the Middle East, however not quite as liberal as places like UAE and Bahrain. They will serve copious amounts of alcohol in all the fancy nightclubs, restaurants, and hotels...and those places are where all the players and fans will most likely stay and hang out. I just have a problem with the fact that Qatar essentially bought off FIFA. I wish I had an ocean of oil in my backyard, that way I could host the World Cup on my lawn. |

Well, petrodollars bought these two World Cups. Also, I hope the Qatari WC fails hard. Sharia law is in effect, subjugating women, and it's legal to lash someone purely for being gay. |

Honestly, the last WC brought some more exposure to Soccer for America. To me, soccer is boring because of how big the field is. If they played on a field the size of a football field, it would speed the game up and make it more interesting, to me at least. |

My buddy Ryan tweeted today "Soccer doesn't need more growth in America, now it needs maturity". I agree. |

Honestly, It would probably be impossible to find a person in the USA who didn't play some form of organized soccer. I played for years every summer and winter. And Everyone I know played some form of organized soccer it seems. It's just not big in America is all. Honestly, it needs to compete with the NFL and the biggest and best TV deal in all the sports here. It's not on TV much here and when it is, you need to be a hardcore fan to watch it. I like quick action, reason why I find baseball so boring. I'm going to scratch my nuts, spit, scratch my balls again, spit once again, do something with my hat, throw a ball, don't swing, and repeat. And don't tell me going to a game is any more fun, the game I went to, I have no idea who won, talking with my friend was more fun and interesting. |

the first decision (Russia) was okay. they need new stadiums and infrastructure. could be a step forward for russia . they've never got one. the russian clubs were quite successfull the last years. England and Spain/Portugal would have been great but Katar........ a shame. yesterday was the 5th round of the Europa league and the comments were like this: WTF, shame of zürich, We care about football(official fifa slogan) ? not at all. Australia was my favourite |

Who wants to sit in a 100 degree stadium, let alone play in one? |

Australia and the USA would be great hosts. |

Average temperature of 95 in Quatar; they'd better build air conditioned stadiums - or play late at night... Soccer, for all it's faults, is more popular in The US than The NFL is anywhere in the world outside of The US. On a global basis The NFL wishes it were soccer. |
