Strangely enough, this is coming from a guy who deals mainly with hockey players, but... Quote: Hearing that Federal Court Judge Susan Nelson has ruled the NFL Lockout illegal and granted players injunction to lift it. http://twitter.com/#!/walsha/status/62637564993093632 Will keep updated as I find out more. |

Do you know if the players' union was officially disbanded? I think that might be the key to this ruling. The union wanted to disband itself so they could file an anti-trust suit against the owners. My understanding if that is there is no union, then the league cannot bargain as one group. Without one group like the union to bargain with, the owners become a group of 32 different teams that can't legally work together to get one set of contract policies, because working together makes them a monopoly. |

The union disassociated (I think was the official terminology used) so that it could file suit. BRB with the answer. Edit: The term used was decertified. Here's USA Today's story from 3/11 http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2011/03/report-nfl-players-association-applies-for-decertification/1
