Wow! What a finish...I was 100% positive Manning was going to go down the field and win it in the last seconds, and apparently so was Belichick. His decision to go for it on 4th and 2 from his own 28 with 2 minutes to play will be debated for a long time to come.

Gutsy or reckless? Cocky or Intimidated? Not sure, but my belief is Belichick figured the odds of Manning sticking it in the end zone were almost a lock from wherever on the field he started, so why not go for the win on 4th and two with all your best weapons? I know he'll take a ton of heat for making this decision, but I actually like it. They were going to lose if they punted to Manning, and he came within a couple of inches of winning it on the pass to Faulk.

Anyway, for those of you who missed this, the game was epic.

I would have punted it, but he went for it because he knew he could have converted it.

They failed to convert and Manning scored to win the game.

I bet he made the call to be cocky, because if he made it, then they would have had to stop them again. It was a good call by him, he just ultimately fell short and Addai ran the ball to the one, and Manning threw a perfect pass to Wayne for the TD.

definitely a great game. i would have to agree that belichick was assuming that peyton was going to score, his team better score first to make the lead insurmountable. And brady had thrown for over 300 yards. At least the refs got the call right. a bobbled pass, is not a catch until control is obtained. great game. loved to see the pats blow that one.

I'm glad they lost. But man did the Colts suck until the fourth quarter.

Great game. Manning is such a machine. He's...incredible.

Belichick called what he believed was a "percentage" play - Nothing wrong with taking an intelligent risk.

Peyton is arguably the best "playing" student of the game, of the last two generations - If not EVER. Phenomenal reads and execution, even under extreme pressure. Clutch.

Wow.

Also the Colts have now won 114 games out of 153 this decade, starting in 2000.

That is amazing how they've won that many games. The Patriots are trailing them with winning 109 of this past decade.

You know, I just caught the replays on that 4th down play and it really looked like Faulk had gathered possession while past the 1st down marker. Too bad for Belichick he blew his final 2 time outs during the series and had none left to challenge!

On so many levels that game was awesome. Moss going sick all over the Colts secondary. The Pats blowing a touchdown when Maroney fumbled into the endzone keeping hope alive for Indy. The Colts miraculously pumping in 21 points in the final 12 minutes to rally from a 31-14 deficit and win. So many memorable moments...this was a true instant classic that Boston fans will be sick about for a long time to come.

Oh, and of course, The Call.

Oh, and of course, The Call.

It was close, but any bobble in the ball results in no possession.

I'm not sure which game was played today, it was the same bobble which resulted in it being a catch and not being a catch or something, or a TD or not. Or I'm just crazy.

I LOVE Peyton Manning. I've been a Bills fan all my life, but the only football jersey i've owned is a Manning jersey.

I went to sleep just after the Pats last TD. I was wiped out anyway and I hate watching the Pats win.

As for Bilichick's call (I think I spelled it wrong, but i don't care), I think its a good gamble with Marcia Brady as your QB. I hate him, but he is nearly perfect. To make that call shows his faith and trust in Marcia and why not? I wish I would have stayed awake. The only thing better than watching the Pats lose is knowing Peyton beat Marcia.

Terrible call by Belicheat.

Give Manning a 30 yard field, or a 65-70 yard field?

No brainer. PUNT THE BALL.

Egh, I dunno about that, I think the average play in the NFL gains 4-5 yards, and the patriots needed two. I have more of an issue with the playcall then the decision to go for it.

Nothing beats seeing Belicheat fuck a call up.

It showed Bilicheat had no faith in his defense to stop Manning on a 70 yard field.

It was either a good move or bad move, and it happened to be the bad move. Even if he had converted it, it's not like he'd be the heralded genius to do such a move.

Not bustin your balls, but they hired a guy who they thought was a good punter(and pay him well) for a reason. Hang me up a 40-45 yd punt with no return. Not to mention the special-teamers they evaluated all pre-season long. If Belicheat had any faith in THEM, then he would have let go of his cock, and punted, like he should have.

The patriots lost, of course it's going to be the incorrect call. All I'm saying is I see the logic behind the decision. I don't necessarily agree with it. I wouldn't consider Chris Hanson a great punter either. If it were Moorman, Scifres or Lechler though, I'd have punted no question.

love the call. it just didnt work out. brady is back to his top flight forum, and though the pats lost the game, he certainly looked and played better then manning. bill didnt lose the game for the pats, the colts won. plus, losing by 1, on the road to the best team in football... i think it shows the pats are still among the cream of the crop.

my glass is half full.

You know, if the ref spots the ball properly the Pats keep possession, win the game, and Belichick is heaped with praise for playing percentages against all orthodoxy. I like the call, too.

The ref got that call correctly.

the replays show the red line, which is the line of scrimmage and not the first down marker. He never had control of the football when he was past the mark, he got hit and gained control of the football a half yard shy.

It was the right call, and wasn't going to be reversed.
