We have come down to the sprint for the playoffs. The Sabres have 22 games left, 13 on the road and 9 at home.

@ Pitt, 3/2
vs. Wash, 3/3
vs. Phil, 3/5
@ NYR, 3/7
vs. Dal, 3/10
vs. Minn, 3/12
@ Det, 3/13
@ Atl, 3/16
@ TB, 3/18
@ FL, 3/20
@ Car, 3/21
vs. Mon, 3/24
vs. Ott, 3/26
vs. TB, 3/27
@ Bos, 3/29
vs. FL, 3/31
@ Tor, 4/1
@ Mon, 4/3
vs. NYR 4/6
@ Bos, 4/8
@ Ott, 4/10
@ NJ, 4/11

We can earn a possible 44 points. In the past three or four seasons 100-104 points have been enough to finish in the top three in the East. The Sabres currently have 75 points. That means we need to win about 13 more games (or some combination, including a point for OT losses).

What is your feeling? How do we finish?

Good question! If the team that played the first 45 games shows up, it's one thing. If the last ten games are an indicator of the direction we're heading, it won't be pretty.

I think we're better than we've shown recently, but not as good as we appeared the first 45 games. I'm saying 30 points.

Trades, or lack of movement thereof, can make this number go up or down....

I'm going 30-34, assuming the team that started the season comes back from the break. Although I was really close to saying low end of 35-40.

25-29, and they won't catch up with Ottawa. A 5th seed and 1st rd match-up with New Jersey. Buffalo actually lucks out with this match-up and beats a Devils team going in the wrong direction. In the second round Washington beats Buffalo and Pittsburgh beats Ottawa, so the NHL gets what it wants with an OV/Sid rematch.

I saved all you guys the trouble and aggravation of watching the rest of the season. Just tune in for the SCFs when Washington beats Vancouver...oh sorry.

I said 30-34 points.

the break was a huge important part for this team to have. Get their head on straights, get a break from some hockey and relax again. come back strong with Miller being beast and the players rejuvenated.

We'll get around 13 or so wins I say, and lose a few in OT and the SO. But I think 30 points in a good answer, and I really don't see Ottawa playing like they have their past 15 games into this stretch run. I think they fall out of first and back near the 5-8 where they belong.

Depends on Miller. If he can feed off of his Olympics play, then 30+. If not, then I'm guess 20-25. I personally voted the median of 25-29.

An interesting line from an article about winners and losers from the Olympics:

"If Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres are coming to town, now you know it’s worth checking out."

We are 6-4-1 since returning from the Olympic break, picking up 13 points so far. We are only two points behind the Pens for the second spot and they have played two more games than we have. We have 11 more games, with six on the road and seven against teams currently seeded for a playoff spot.

If we are going to get to 100-104 points then we need to win 6-8 of the remaining 11.

All in all, I'm feeling a lot better than when the Olympic break began.

we lose out, sabres miss the playoffs, and ottawa beat the rangers for the East championship, going on to beat the canucks in the SCF!

ok, but im not sure. hopefully we see a dedicated team, and should the sabres clinch, lalime in net a few times to rest miller up. maybe even get some portland kids up for experience!

And I called the Senators to not keep up their level of play also.

SCORE ME
