mmmm..........Ottawa - Toronto this evening, so it doesn't appear it will last long. I think someone posted in here lets see where we fall in placement at the end of the season. I just want them to make the playoffs at this point. So, I'm hoping for atleast 10 more victories to attempt to secure that spot.

I bet Toronto wins.

lol yea.. The Senators lost to friggin Carolina 4-1 last game

Carolina has won 6 or 7 in a row, and have won probably 60% of their games this year.

Stop doubting Carolina being a team that can easily beat other teams, they've been very unfortunate with injuries to EVERYONE, but everyone is basically healthy again and playing well for them.

There is a reason why they have 6 games in a row in which they've won.

Carolina has won 26 out of 63 games, 41% of their games, so they've almost lost 60%.

They're just not that good and will probably end up in 12th to 14th.

I was talking in 2010, not the season year. If you look at January, February and such Carolina has been hot and not that bad. Give credit where it's due, Carolina has the best last 10 record in the league and they have the longest winning streak right now.

Carolina can get into the playoffs if their play continues like it has these past few months. They are what 7 points out of a spot right now? And if they keep their play up, it wouldn't be surprised to see them in the 7th or 8th playoff spot.

I know everyone here hates Carolina, but look at the big picture, their team is healthy, it has shown it can win games when everyone is healthy. They are not a team to take lightly in any way, shape, or form.

If Carolina beats the Panthers tonight they move to 12th with 61 points.

The Islanders lost so they are still at 60 points, and Florida is at 60 points and they play tonight.

Basically the only two teams completely out of a playoff spot now is Toronto and the Oilers.

Unless Toronto would win their next 19 straight they aren't going to make up 16 points, and even if they won their next 19, that would only give them 88 points at the end, which wouldn't be close enough to sneak in I don't think.

As hot as Carolina has been lately, they are still in 28th place for points this season  But your right, they have been hot..

It will be interesting to see how Carolina and Ottawa play out.. They both play tonight..

Oh I know VanekKing, but it was from their terrible start.

If they hadn't been injured this year they would be in a playoff picture easily.

But injuries are a part of the game, at least it showed they have some great young talent ready to play, especially Sutter.

Well there goes 1st place  But Ottawa only picked up 1 point in the shootout loss to Toronto, so they dont have more points than us and we have 3 games in hand

We're still in first, less games played so superior point percentages.

Well we're still in first and having played less games then them it means something.

We have earned more points in less games than them.

Yes, but nothing has happened yet, I'm just saying right now we have earned more points in less games right now.

Sabres haven't won or lost those games yet, so we don't need to worry about it until they happen.

And maybe the Sabres win all of those 3 games and they take a 6 point lead.. Don't be such a downer..

im not being a downer. but its stupid to point to those three games and act like its 6 points, especially with how theyve been struggling.

Mike has a very, very good point. The Sabres having games in hand doesn't automatically mean wins like they did in the early part of the season.

When I was a kid, I was taught to treat a game at hand as a point.

Right now that seems pretty reasonable....if a bit optimistic.
