Sunday, in the last 4 minutes of the Canes game, Mair was assessed a double minor and a 10 minute misconduct for a crosscheck. The TV people said only that he had been penalized 4 minutes and I had to go to the game log to discover more. No mention that I could find in the papers and radio. I never heard of such a draconian penalty for a crosscheck. If Mair wants to settle an old score at the end of the game he should attack the head. Richards and Cooke have developed an excellent concussive head shot that in the bizzarro world of the NHL is not penalized. If anyone knows more about this incident- what happened and who did he crosscheck and why the secrecy- please let me know. :naughty:

I'm glad you posted this. I was checking your thread in the other forum on it, because I was curious myself.

I wasn't really thinking about it, but since you brought this thread over from the other forum, my curiosity is growing in regards to this shadowy incident. I hope we find out.

I commented during the game that I found a 4 minute cross check and a misconduct sounded very odd. They had gone to commercial during the broadcast, and didn't mention it on the way back, so I don't know what happened.

Its newsworthy because I cant remember the last time anybody on the 'Lady Bing Sabres' were assessed a 10 minute misconduct. A double minor for a high stick is common but what kind of a cross check warrants a double minor?

Found Squanto's post on the game thread. He crosschecked LaRose. He must have crosschecked him thru the boards. I've been waiting for someone to nail LaRose. He's a dirty little player who must have got away with something on Mair or another Sabre. This is the kind of stuff we want to know - what did he do and who did he do it to.

If I remember correctly, didn't LaRose come barging in on goal earlier in the night and bowl someone over? Tallinder?

I was at the dogpark yesterday, when I saw a dude with a 'canes sweatshirt on. I say to him
"Hey, hope you enjoyed that whoopin my sabres laid on the canes last night"
him: "Grumble mutter didnt play defense mrumble"
Me: "true, they did shit the bed on defense. But man, they sure were helped by the refs! A double minor for a single crosscheck, in the last four minutes of the game? How convenient and bullshit"
Him: "yeah...actually that was kind of bullshit."

Then his dog attacked another dog and he ran to deal with that. Oddly enough he didnt come back to finish reminiscing.

That was total BS. Double minor for a crosscheck? And the Cane player didn't even get a penalty. That was horrible.

Lindy mentioned it in his post-game press conference, but I can't remember what he said... Something along the lines of how he didn't mind that Mair took the initial penalty but he was upset that he got another.
