He would have gone in the top 3-5 in that draft had he been taller. That's where he was as far as skill goes. Him and Myers... What a draft that might turn out to have been ten years from now.

Ten!? Try two! (wishful thinking)

It's already paying dividends.

he looked great... but he isn't having a point per game season in the AHL, so i have no idea why anyone would expect more from him in the big leagues

Playing with better players, who can adjust and play with his shiftiness.

I would normally agree Capt. Pants, but there are variables involved here.

Such as, the caliber of players he is playing with. It is reasonable to assume that with the Sabres, he is playing with a higher quality talent, thereby raising his abilities as a player.

But, alas, thats an assumption. I will say I have been impressed in both games he played in. In the Philly game he did look nervous, but he did his job and it actually led to a goal.
This last game, he looked more comfortable, hell, on the power play he made it appear as though he was a natural for the Sabres. But what really caught my eye on this kid wasn't his goal or his power play prowess, it was the pass to Mair. That showed great patience and vision.

I see no reason why he could not achieve 80+ points per season, if the players around him show up to play.

If he was good enough to put up 40-60 points , which is the current poll leader, he wouldn't have started the year in the AHL.

The kid is good, but assuming that he'd be in the top third on the team in points after a grand total of 34 minutes of NHL icetime is a little bit much.

I chose 40-60 on this basis:

His name is Tyler Ennis, which is almost the same as Tyler (Myers) Ellis.

Myers has 43 points, Ellis has 10.

so:
43+10 = 53 = Tyler Ennis point total.

Maybe. Usually, I don't like to jump all over this type of stuff and get too excited, but it's not like Steve Bernier coming over and scoring in his first game.

This kid has natural, raw offensive talent. It's something that can't be taught, and it's definitely something that we haven't had on this team since Briere... except I think Ennis is even more creative than Danny was.

I love that logic.

Also He had trouble adjusting to the AHL at first, which is not a problem to me as he is top 20 in points in the AHL this year. With 65 in 69 games is a huge accomplishment for a first year player in the AHL. If he plays in the AHL next year he'll easily be a PPG player, and if he plays in the NHL I'd say he gets at least 50 points in his rookie year.

I think he would've had about 65 or 70 points by now, had he started the year with the Sabres. I can't wait to see what he can do once he's a full-time Sabre.

If Darcy could land James Neal I would drive down to Dallas and bring him to Buffalo myself. WoW would that be unreal.

I guess 40-60 but you can't tell. I still think he's AWESOME. He is doing great in the AHL and both times he was in the NHL he did great.

It sounds like he thinks Darcy is ready to come out of the closet

But ya, I wouldn't mind seeing James Neal in a Sabres uniform.
