CBS Sports posted an article tonight on who they believe should take home this years awards, and while Tyler Myers got snubbed for the Calder Trophy (Jimmy Howard is the winner-to-be in their eyes) they gave major props to Miller, stating that they believe he deserves not only the Vezina, but the Hart trophy as well.

Always good to see Miller get a little respect.

Lets Go Buffalo!

Jimmy Howard? Over Myers? I wouldn't pick that...

Shame they ruined their credibility with that.

There are a good number of folks that are picking Howard. It's not a farfetched idea.

Regardless, I think Myers gets it.

I think the people that don't have Myers as the Calder Trophy winner are looking about his stats and going into cardiac arrest over how many giveaways he's committed.

Myers looked like a lumbering jackass against the Habs...

He did, but I think a lot of it has to do with Lindy Ruff telling him he wants him to be more physical. People harp on Myers for not being meaner, but I rather like that he prefers to use his stick-check than a body check. He's not used to playing physical, and in doing so, he pulls himself out of position.

And a lot of people have mentioned nerves...I think he does have some nerves when dealing with the Habs. (People say he does against the Leafs, too, but I seem to remember Myers being dominant against the Leafs this season, save that last game against them).

apparently you havnt seen howards numbers. talk here is he is a probable veznia finalist, and in the running for the hart. while the latter i dont see happening, i do see him as a veznia finalist (hes better then fucking lundqvist) and, really, i think unless he implodes, or myers gets 9 goals the rest of the way, the calder is howards to lose. i would be shocked, utterly shocked, if he didnt win the calder.

edit: if you need more proof on how much howard means to the wings, see todays red wings game. where osgoods in net. osgoods finished.

My issue with Howard is exactly what CV has been joking about. Howard is 26 yrs old, had his first action as a pro in 2007-08, again in 2008-09, and finally broke through this season as a regular. By rule he's eligible for ROTY, but it's not the same as a 19-22 yr old that produces with his first pro assignment. It's one step shy of the Makarov embarrasment when he won ROTY. Because of Makarov, now only players under 26 can win the Calder, and Howard is barely eligible since he started the season at age 25.

Myers is a TRUE rookie, regardless of what the rules say. IMO the Calder should come down to Duchene and Myers, and it's a toss up to me.

he JUST turned 26, and if hes eligible, hes eligible. goalies take longer to develop, hell, hes the same age miller was as a rookie, and hasek, and nabokov, and ed belfour. goaltenders rarely come in at 19-22 years old, and are handed the reins to a team. im not going to discredit him because hes a little bit older. hes playing out of his mind, and hes a rookie. so there ya go.

I agree that the race is between Myers and Howard. However, as much as he's still a rookie by technical terms, that he's 26 will hurt him. It might not lose him the Calder or it might, but either way, him being 26 is going to have an effect on the voting.

It's not just an age thing to me. If he hadn't been up and down twice before, and finally hit it big at 26 for the first time and played this way, I would be a little more on board.

Side note - why doesn't Duchene get as much credit? Just because he's a forward? He's still been a big reason for Colorado's surprising season.

On your Howard point (and this goes against my Myers >>> Howard stance), Ryan Miller did the exact same thing. He had two or three unsuccessful call-ups before hitting his stride. Hell, we all remember how he cried after allowing 7? goals during one of his call-ups.

On your Duchene point, it's because while Myers and Howard have been steady and great all season, Duchene started out ice cold and is currently ice cold but was gangbusters for a few months in-between.
