forrest gump? easily a top 10 movie of all time. tom hanks was amazing in that movie.
It's not even close to the Top 10 movies of all time. Like 98% of American films...
the movie can't deal with it's own tragedy without softening the blow. Jenny's dead, but she lives on and Forrest has a son. Why don't you go and make Sabretooth and Wolverine brothers so we can really understand their strife....oh wait they did that. American movie audiences suck.
Don't think so...go watch both versions of The Ring, the Japanese and the American...which is better and why? This is what Hollywood thinks of us...they spoon feed the imagination out of every film they touch.
Someone let an overly sentimental and sappy piece of celluloid schlock play with their heart strings too much. Gary Sinese is angry, Robin Wright Penn is confused, Sally Field has a piece of wisdom to dispense ... Tom Hanks is a great actor, albeit a bit preachy. Now let's make a movie. It's all comfort food.
I was hoping that Lt. Dan beat him with one of his "Magic Legs" by the end of the film.
What's the lesson, once the woman of your dreams has used herself up and has a death sentence...she's good enough for the "not a smart man?" It's like a tragic "Pretty Woman."
When's the last time you watched it? Go back and try to watch it again. Tropic Thunder totally put movies like this in their place. Simple, could run fast, charmed the pants off of Nixon.
See this is how interested I am in this series as I know the Sabres are gonna crush the Bruins. The only good thing is that I'm local to Boston, MA, so I'll have not problem watching the slaughter.
Ummm... the movie wasn't written to focus on the tragedy. It was written to tug on the heart strings of Americans, which it accomplishes with flying colors.
Forrest Gump is supposed to portray the trials and tribulations of every day life from the eyes of a simpleton.
It's a success story of a disabled man overcoming insurmountable odds with a positive outlook on life and just a little bit of luck.
We realize the American dream through his accomplishments as the movie rolls forward. From escaping bullying as a child, to playing college sports and getting a degree, to returning home safe from a war, to finding financial stability and even wealth, to inspiring others around him, to finding love, to raising a child...
How could Americans NOT love this movie? It's a classic. It highlights everything we want in life.
I agree with you. It's 100% American. That's why it is one of the top 10 best movies of all time.
