It was a hack on a breakaway and we`ve all seen it a million times. The outcome is unfortunate but that wasn`t intent to injure. It was intent to stop a goal.

He could've hooked him, but he aimed for his knee with a two-handed slash. Stopping a goal is one thing - pulling a Chris Simon on a guy's joint is completely another.

He did take a run at Boychuk and Boychuk lowered the shoulder on him and flattened Kaleta.

Kaleta should do it when he's not looking then ;)

Oops, forgot he actually did hook Vanek, and then Simon'd him for good measure.

Only telling you what they were saying on the radio, then what Ruff said after I saw the presser when I got home, can't tell you why they said it.

A lot of people who didn't know why learned why this series. You're not along in that regard. He's the biggest guy in the game, and could be one of the gnarliest, but he's a huge labia.

Boychuk is a puke bastard bitch, plain and simple.
Some people on this board wanted McCormick and Cowan, I SAY LET IT BE DONE!!!

In the words of LINDY RUFF...."GO RUN EM"!

When I think about the loss(of Vanek) I become furious, completely furious. Boychuk chopped him down, and gave him an extra shove for good measure. If he received a 5 minute, and a game, I would be able to more tolerate it. For anyone who says this asshole doesn't deserve a cheap-shot, I say if I saw him walking down the street right now, I'd punch him in his fucking face. Shades of Gomez on Miller last year, but worse by far, because I believe whenever anyone shoves a player(who is out of control) to the boards intends to injure. The guy is clearly already out of the play. Whatever, my little rant is over.

...and btw, telling someone to grow up is about equal to calling them immature. Maybe we're getting a bit too upset, but that's human.

Come on Phil it was a hack and nothing more. It wasn't intent to injure or anything. Honestly in the game today at the pace they play at you don't think about where your gonna hack the guy you just know your gonna hack the guy. If that was Kaleta on Ryder we'd be laughing at how stupid the Bruins fans are for wanting a suspension on this. The outcome is the only reason people are upset. If Boychuk does this and Vanek stays healthy no one would be posting about this shit. Let's all take off our homer glasses and see that it was nothing more than a hack. A good hard hack but nothing more than a hack.

Vanek got slashed in the right knee and was staying off his left when he got up. The injury occurred when Boychuk landed on him I think.

Yea his right leg is fine, he was standing on it while he was trying to get off the ice.

The stick caught his knee guard anyways so it definitely wasn't a knee issue. If it's his left leg it could be when he hit the boards or something.

That was total, complete BS. He hacked his knee, for crying out loud! Piece of garbage. That entire team is.

Does anyone here play hockey? Have you seen the equipment they use today. A hack like Boychuk's does nothing more than sting your leg for a few minutes.

He made sure he went into the boards out of control. That's my gripe. I'm 90% sure the injury is related to the impact with the boards(easy guess, because the boards cause 90% of serious injuries).

EVERYONE POSTING ON VANEKS RIGHT OR LEFT LEG, IT WAS JUST ANNOUNCED FOLLOWING THE CAPS/MON GAME THAT IT IS INDEED, HIS RIGHT LEG, TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, THEY STATED IT WAS HIS RIGHT KNEE, WHEN THEY ATTEMPTED TO ASK THE ORGANIZATION ABOUT IT.

That sounds straight up retarded. Then again, this is NBC.
